Solid, older system board.
I had this same model board in my file server, but it eventually died. (The system originally came from a client, who let it overheat one too many times.) This is a solid performer, even for an older board. I can do everything I need with a system that just sits in the background, storing my data. I'm a professional PC tech, so I need a lot of data storage for all sorts of utilities, client back-ups, software & drivers, etc. I only which it had on-board RAID. Other than that, it chugs along and is very stable. It has IDE and SATA interfaces; plenty of USB ports, PCIe for the video card, very nice board.I had this same model board in my file server, but it eventually died. MSI G31TM-P21 Mother Board
Great Motherboard! Easy to set up! Even Easier to Overclock! MSI makes a great motherboard and it has a load of features that gives you some cool abilities. I paired it with a Intel E3200 2.4 GHz CPU and Overclocked it to about 3.2Ghz not to shabby! You also get a great utility form MSI that allows you to overclock in Windows not just the BIOS. you can get a brand new FAST PC using this motherboard CPU and RAM for about $150! Using Intel's G31 chip-set is not bad either! GOOD DEAL IN MY BOOK!!!!Great Motherboard! Easy to set up! Even Easier to Overclock! Good Motherboard!
I have used this particular Motherboard for many years now. I was first attracted to it at the time I bought it because I needed both IDE and Sata connections. Now, I have Sata connections only, but appreciated having both available on this Motherboard. The downfall or bad side to this Motherboard is upgrading it to 8 GB of Ram. Buying DDR2 Ram in 4 GB sticks is expensive! If you can live with using it with only 4GB of Ram, then it will probably serve you well as mine has for me. There are only 2 Slots for Ram, so you are forced to buy it in the 4GB size in order to have 8GB of Ram. I Have Not Converted over to Windows 10 yet, so I cannot say if this Motherboard would work well with Windows 10 or not. The Video is on the Motherboard, and Windows 10 may not work very well with the On Board ... I have used this particular Motherboard for many years now. Well rounded board
Oct-2011 We the USB's went bad after a year, returned, then returned and returned again. 3 boards RMA'd to MSI and all were bad. This all happened over 3 months. Got fustrated with MSI and bought the equivalent Gigabyte mobo and no issues so far....................................................................................................................................................... Feb-2010 Just put my sons PC together with this board, Centrino Dual Core 2.4, 4 gig and it booted right up with no issues. Many bios overclocking capabilities, but its not my style. Clean bios and boot.
