Tense, Sets Your Nerves On Fire, Like The Hulk?
While most film remakes tend to be predictable, this film was a surprising breath of fresh "Movie Air". Wow. Edward Norton as Dr. Bruce Banner was extremely impressive and teaches us that artistic creation does matter. I wouldn't have missed this at all in theaters, however, I might have had something going on at that present time that caused me to miss the initial introduction in theaters. After over a year after its release, I finally caught this on video. Thanks to the wondrous world of Ebay, I finally caught this last evening. While more than over the top, we find our buddy that we always loved Lou Ferrigno in a small part as a security guard. The U.K. Born Tim Roth is totally awesome in his role. Little do we know until the very end that Stark Industries, Inc., our old buddy Tony Stark is going to show up and get involved, yet during the first 4 minutes of the beginning, we almost figure all this out because the headlines and information flashes telling us of Stark's involvement. Perhaps this may be pointing us toward a second movie involving Ironman as well. Let be hopeful Amazing graphics was only the icing on the cake. The screenplay didn't waste any time at all in telling us through the 4 minute screen credits what had actually occurred with our main character becoming mutated by gamma rays. I'll have to hand it to the production and design team and wonderful acting on the part of Liv Tyler, William Hurt, Ed Norton, and the rest to present this film in an absorbing rendition of the most incredible story in comics. 5/5 for genius. Monstrously Entertaining
For those that know only of the original comic book Hulk, the TV series Hulk, or the regrettable Ang Lee Hulk, you should know that this new version is a mixture of origins. Without spoiling it, one of the larger ingredients in this new Hulk comes from a Marvel series that is an alternate universe. There are many differences in the Ultimates Universe. In this version, Banner did not get his gamma radiation from exposure during an experimental bomb explosion. I won't spoil it, but you can go to www.marvel.com and look under "Ultimates" if you wish to get the gist of it. I can truly say that this version captures a little of everything, so that no matter what your knowledge is of the Hulk character, there's tie-ins to everything. Personally, I felt this reboot was well thought out. It ... This will allow future Marvel movie-makers the ability to pick and choose aspects from the multitude of alternate universes, re-tellings, and time spans to combine whatever they please. This was well cast. When the overall product can make me forget the fact that I don't like a specific actor, and truly appreciate the total entertainment experience, it's something to smile about. I won't mention which one I don't care for, since all that will do is spark useless debate. Story - intricate and intelligent, fast-paced, yet deeply explanatory, complex, yet easily taken in by non-geeks. Enough references to the true comic, alternate comic, and TV show, that everyone in the sneak peek seemed to be pleased. I surely was. CGI was great. Don't know why some have to nit-pick, but you can't please everyone, I guess. Action was wonderful with plenty of it!

The Incredible Hulk
Finally a Hulk movie made right! This is coming from someone who hated the Ang Lee version... and I'm sure I'm not the only one. This movie has everything that the 2003 version didn't... ACTION, and plenty of it might I add. I was a bit skeptical when I got offered to see the early screening of this movie, I disliked the other one so much and was wondering could this be any better? Certainly couln't get any worse! So I was suprised to see that this was as a great movie, the action scenes won me over, the final battle was insane... if your looking for a movie with a decent story, solid acting, sweet visuals and plenty of mind blowing action than Hulk is your movie to see. I was never a BIG fan of the TV show but my friend said this relates more to the show than the previous film. Now ... Finally a Hulk movie made right! I was a little disappionted that Edward Norton wasn't given much to do, I mean don't get me wrong he did great its just, you'll have to see for yourself. There are several cameos that the audience applauded... I won't ruin them for you although one of the TV Spots already ruined one of them. All in all this film is a must see for Hulk fans and ones who hated the 2003 version your not the only one but forget about that and watch this to redeem yourself. Hope you found this helpful... A Marvellous Live-Action Movie
Watch out, because when Bruce turns into that giant green creature called Hulk, no one can stop him. This is just another MARVELLOUS (get it?) movie that, together with Ironman, could be the one of the greatest action movies of 2008 in every sense. Incredible scenes, very well produced. Basically, the story is about a guy (Bruce, played by Edward Norton) who have suffered a kind of genetic mutation due to a frustrated experience with gamma radiation and is striving to keep himself away from being angry, otherwise he can turn into a diabolic monster who crashes everything and everyone on his way, except his longtime lover (Betsy, played by Liv Tyler). The end of the movie strongly suggests that there will be a sequel soon to be seen, possibly for the next year. True to the TV Series, NOT the actual comic
Many people seem to like this movie more than Ang Lee's take on the Hulk. I couldn't disagree more, and for several reasons. This version of the Hulk was kind of weak. He didn't get stronger as he got angrier, and he couldn't even jump to the top of a building in one bound, let alone miles at a time like in the comic (and Ang Lee's Hulk). Another thing that bothered me was this Hulk was like a "pretty boy" compared to the brute we see in the comics (and again, in Ang Lee's Hulk). He had nice hair, a generally attractive face, and was also shaped like a body builder, not a power lifter. The real Hulk could give a crap about how he looks, he just wants everyone to know he's the strongest. Ang Lee's Hulk better fit that description. The fights are weak. There are only three action ... And not only was Ang Lee's Hulk fighting more often, he also had longer fights - fights that really showed off the Hulk's true power as depicted in the comics. Another thing I didn't like is that this Hulk was more violent and had no problem killing (check the factory scene where he crushes a few guys under that big tank), whereas Ang's Hulk didn't kill anyone - in fact he saved a few people on the Golden Gate bridge. A couple things I can concede is that this movie's Hulk looked more realistic. (However, if they had come out in the same year, I'd be willing to bet Ang Lee's 2003 Hulk would be taking that title, be cause this 2008 Hulk does not look like FIVE years worth of new computer hardware and software better.) And this Hulk movie had a better LFE track. The acting was great in both movies however, and I thought the script was good in both. But Ang Lee's Hulk had more fights, better fights, longer-lasting fights and stayed much more true to the comic book's version of the Hulk. I'd give this movie a B- and Ang Lee's an A- (because it took so freakin long before he *finally* turned into the Hulk).
