Designed to present grown-up gamers with a well-rounded cowboy adventure, Gun tells a classic Western story of revenge and rugged individualism, with the player in the starring role. Colton White was robbed of his heritage by a lifetime of lies; now he aims to take charge of his destiny and become his own man. The game's open-ended mission structure and expansive environments allow players to explore the frontier as they choose. Missions offer a variety of gameplay styles, including stealth action, precision shooting, and horseback riding.<br><br>Players can develop Colton White to be an upstanding, classic hero, who protects the innocent and follows a code of righteousness, or a vengeful loner, who best serves the frontier community by serving himself first. The game's story progresses through a series of major missions, but many side-quests allow the hero to develop skills and earn scratch. Money and other crucial resources can be gained by collecting bounties, winning at the poker table, or by less civically upstanding means.<br><br>Gun was developed by veteran studio Neversoft, previously renowned as the creator of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series. Key characters in Gun are voiced by a number of accomplished screen actors, including Tom Skerritt, Lance Henriksen, and Kris Kristofferson. The game's story was written by screenwriter Randall Jahnson (Sunset Strip, The Mask of Zorro, The Doors).

    short title reflecting the old western fronteir

    I had been curious for some years as to how this game played out, browsing the web sites did not really give me the information i was looking for. Finally made the move and bought it. It is a different type of game from the bang bang, boom boom single player war genre. My mind is not made up as to whether that is a plus or minus since i have only played it for one hour, my take so far is that the game is "different". The dialogue is good and not distracting, it is actually helpfull, the game frames play at a fast rate and takes some adjusting. It definitely has the potential for being a good boredom killer. Please note that if the shooting of wild game turns you off this is not the game for you. Since as said my playing time to date is limited it will take longer for me to form a more in ...

    Pretty and Fun, But Short and Easy

    Let's start with the positives: Gun is a very pretty game, with lots of great scenery and attention to detail. It is also easy to learn and a lot of fun to play. However, the game has a few problems. First, it is one of those games that you can breeze through the entire thing only dying a few times, but at the end the "boss" is extremely difficult and takes many tries to finally defeat. Second, it's extremely short - even playing all the side missions it does not provide a very long playing experience. Also, it is completely linear. You go from a to b to c without ever making a decision or having to alter your strategy. Nothing affects the storyline, so you merely hop from one movie to the next. All in all, I would suggest renting the game for $6 rather than buying it for $50. I ...

    Grand theft auto cowboy style!

    This is one of the most beautiful games I have ever seen. The scenery is magnificent and there is an unrivaled attention to detail on everything in the game. There's a great storyline that could easily become movie worthy and the main missions that make up the story are quite fun. That's where the shine of this game ends though, a bigger story and more side missions wouldn't have gone a miss and better hand to hand combat physics wouldn't have gone a miss either. So rent or buy? Rent, I bought it and ended up finishing it in four days, but they were a good four days though. 4/5, good Grand theft auto style western that shouldn't be missed.

    Fun To Play Western Game

    If you like Western FPS, then you would probably like this game. The graphics are ok and the storyline is kind of interesting. You even get to ride a horse which is fun, and also are able to interact with other game characters. Some of the Boss characters were too difficult for me and I could not find any cheats to help me out. I have also played Call of Juarez which I think is a better game. The story is interesting and the graphics are good. You can play several different people during gameplay. Hope this helps.

    Gun has a few good surprises..

    This game was fun, challenging, and a welcome break from GuildWars and HalfLife2. I enjoyed the Texas Hold'em tournaments to raise money, especially the cheat option, although I would recommend you play the game on its difficult setting, for maximum challenge. You also get to scalp enemies, and collect gold. The end boss was VERY hard to kill, but after several tries (and a visit to Google) I finmally figured it out. The horse was pretty cool, too, but be careful you don't hit the shift button too quickly because you can kill the horse, and also enable the special windows keyboard option which pops up and says, "You just hit the shift key 5 times in a row, do you want to turn on filter keys?" or something like that. Buying it new, not recommended, but if you can get it for $20 ...
