Product Information

When a villainous bandit terrorizes her small Mexican village, a real-life damsel in distress (Patrice Martinez) enlists the help of three goofy singing cowboy Hollywood stars--mistakenly believing that they are as heroic in person as they are onscreen. Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Martin Short star as the swashbuckling Three Amigos! The wimpy actors think they are going south of the border to perform a one-time show for a large fee. When they are fired from their studio, they have no choice but to accept the offer and head south for the show of a lifetime. As they arrive in the tiny oppressed village, they begin to realize that they are caught in a horrible case of mistaken identity and must truly fight for their lives against the evil marauder El Guapo (Alfonso Arau). They cowardly run for their lives and the village is almost destroyed until they realize the importance of their mission and are forced to use real cunning and bravery to try to defeat the villain and his hordes in order to prove that the Three Amigos! were truly as courageous and heroic as they appeared onscreen. This hilarious spoof of old-fashioned Westerns features marvelous physical comedy from its strong cast.

"My Little Buttercup, has the sweetest smile! "
I first saw this movie as a young girl and thought it was so funny. Over the years, I had seen it a few times on cable, and I laughed all over again. I finally decided I needed my own copy to share with my family. I gotta say, my husband and children love this movie now. Very funny, in my opinion, perfect casting. Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Chevy Chase make the perfect trio in this so very entertaining movie. Out of work actors, who are believed to be real-life heroes by a small town, are hired to fight off real banditos! Thinking they are putting on a big show, the actors come out guns blazing on their horses, only to find out this is the REAL thing. With names like "Dusty Bottoms", and "El Guapo", this is a must see movie for any fan of good, clean, family-friendly comedy. There ... This movie is a classic for Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Chevy Chase. It is a very funny, quirky story about three out of work actors, who are hired by a village in Mexico to fight the banditos who are terrorizing them. The villagers think they are real heros, instead of actors. It is fun to see these great and talented actors work with each other. They really bring out each other's strenths. This is a very family appropriate film. Personally, buying it from e-bay was a very good choice, because I found it new, and had it in a very few days. I checked with major movie retailers, and had little success. I bought my copy from an e-bay seller, for half of the retail price. Most retailers could not even find this film in their inventory. Caution:
The Three Amigos is a goofy, sweet, family film but this DVD was V-E-R-Y badly scratched and unfortunately totally unwatchable. Super, super, disappointed because I love this movie. 1 star because product was damaged.
