The 1st From The Vault release, and maybe the best.
I used to have an old cassette copy of a FM broadcast of this show from 1975. Dispite with the dismal sound quality it had, I still played it very often. Man, was I thrilled when an official, great sounding copy of this show was released in 1991. This is probably the third copy of this two CD set I've purchased, it's become a staple in my music collection. About the show itself, Bill Graham introduces the band members into a smokin' Help on the Way Slipknot Franklin's Tower, and the show never lets up from there. They played many songs from the new at the time album "Blues For Allah", and mixed in a few classics for good measure. This show was one of the only times they ever played the song "Blues For Allah" live. 1975 also marked the return of Mickey Hart to the second drummers seat, ... Mastered from original multi-track tapes recorded on August 13th, 1975, and nicely mastered to CD, a magical night is preserved for all time. There's a lot of great "Vault" releases out there these days, but there's something special about this first one. This is a great double disc set for any Grateful Dead fan, from "newbie" to seasoned "Head".

Terrific CD!
This CD features several songs from "Blues For Allah" and a very interesting selection of other songs from a few different Grateful Dead eras. The sound quality is great. As a recorded live CD, I'd prefer if the audience reaction had been made louder, but nonetheless this is a terrific CD!

Good reason why it was Dick's first pick from vault
This was the Dead's first public performance of their "Blues for Allah" material after they finished recording tha watershed album, and to say they were inspired would be the understatement of the year. It's one of those rare Dead shows when they're hitting on all cylinders throughout both sets, from a period when some of their live material was uneven at best. This set belongs in everyone's library as perhaps one of the best mid-seventies performances they ever laid to tape. It cleaned up nicely, too, and the true ADD mix does justice to all the subtleties the band was capable of rendering.
