Black Sabbath Never Say Die, is dead.
Black Sabbath Never Say Die; Its good to see the guys together again in this concert, they appeared to be having fun. However, the audio and video quality of this recording release by Sanctuary Records is terrible, especially the sound.! This DVD was played/tested on my Denon DCD-1600NE Super Audio CD/DVD player. Most if not all of my VHS concert recordings sound and look much better played on my Sony 4 Head VHS machine. IF this DVD comes in a remastered version defiantly go for that, forgetabout the 2003 Sanctuary DVD release, you will be disappointed.! Never say DIE !!! Black Sabbath
Never Say Die was recorded live in 1978, the last year of Black Sabbath's original line-up (Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler & Bill Ward). If you have any knowledge on Sabbath's career at this particular point in time you would know Iommi has demanded centre stage for this last tour, so Ozzy's performance is restricted to the side of the stage, and therefore pretty disappointing. It is painfully obvious to see the tiredness not just Ozzy (soon to be fired), but all the others are under too. The performances are good (I mean, it's Black Sabbath, afterall) but not brilliant, probably due to the sound levels and Ozzy's voice not being anywhere as good as it usually is, which was really disappointing for me. If you're a Sab fan, you'll buy it regardless of any review (just as I did). ... Theres some worthwhile performances on here, plus rare concert songs such as Dirty Women, Rock & Roll Doctor and Never Say Die, as well as the classics (War Pigs, Paranoid, Children Of The Grave, Snowblind, Symptom Of The Universe, Electric Funeral & Black Sabbath). There aren't any extras on the disc, but my guess is you're not contemplating buying it for those anyway. It's worthwhile for any Sabbath fan to have it in your collection.

The DVD brought back memories of this concert that I went to see. The opeing act was Van Halen. What a show! Though this DVD is not the whole concert it still was for me something that was part of life, and I am glad to have it. Why the whole show was not released is beyond me. The film quality was good, but Ozzy's voice could have been better. I don't remember it being off as much. There are no extras on the DVD which is a drag, but for someone that was there I'm still glad to have purchased this DVD.The DVD brought back memories of this concert that I went to see. This is an excellent DVD showing Black Sabbath with their original lineup. It's a shame that this would be their last world tour with Ozzy for many years to come until the reunion happened. The film quality is great and the sound is great as well. The DVD is roughly 60 min. long and Sabbath play some of their biggest hits and also some lesser known songs that die-hard Sabbath fans will appreciate. If you're a fan of the old Sabbath and want to see them in all their glory then this is the DVD for you. If you're a younger fan of Black Sabbath and want to see what they were like back in the day then this is a must buy. The original Sabbath lineup doing it like only they can, and at the height of their career. This is better than any Sabbath DVD that you will find. The Last Supper is filled with interviews that seem good but they are stuck in the middle of songs. You'll be jamming along to a song and it cuts from the live show to an interview. NOT GOOD!!! Black Sabbath live in Paris 1970 is better than the Last Supper but the sound quality is not as good as this vid. Also, as a bass player myself I like to watch Geezer jamming on his bass and Live in Paris has very few moments of Geezer onscreen, it centers mostly around Toni Iommi and Ozzy. Dollar for dollar, this is the best Black Sabbath DVD there is. If you are a true Sabbath fan like I am you will want them all really but this is my fav vid ...
