When Chloe gets lost south of the border, her scrappy Chihuahua admirer, Papi (voiced by George Lopez), embarks on a mission to bring her back home. While Chloe's pint-size dog in shining armor searches for his posh crush, she must contend with the rough-and-tumble side of life, learning a few important lessons along the way.Directed by Raja Gosnell, who is no stranger to dog-themed live-action/CGI flicks (see SCOOBY-DOO), CHIHUAHUA is an amusing diversion that is custom-made for canine lovers. Barrymore and Lopez are pitch-perfect in their vocal performances, and they are ably assisted by a bevy of Latino talent, including Andy Garcia, Edward James Olmos, and Cheech Marin. Although the film doesn't give its human actors a lot to do, it doesn't matter much, since the dogs are the reason for the entire show. In fact, the more the movie concentrates on its furry protagonists the more giddily entertaining it gets, as exemplified by a fun, fantastical doggie musical sequence that serves as CHIHUAHUA's undeniable highlight.

Adorable dogs, great family movie!
Talking Chihuahuas taking part in a very suspenseful tale are entertaining for all ages of animal lovers, not just the kids. Be sure to get the sequels #2 and #3 when you get to see the adorable puppies take part in more adventures. Great special effects!

Fun family humor, appropriate for all...
Most children's movies have some adult humor to keep parents entertained too. This is no different, but still appropriate for all ages. You just can't beat talking animals, and the line up of celebrity voices totally makes the characters fun and personable. The human love story is weak, as were the characters. The gardener is a hot Latino and should have been given a little deeper or more layered personality. There are so many female leads that would have been a better choice and several times wondered why Piper Perabo took the lead. Jamie-Lee Curtis is perfect in her role as the doting "mommy" and her character had the most vibrant personality and was used to the advantage of the story. Beverly Hills Chichuachua is exactly about a cute little chichuachua.
The movie was really entertaining especially for dog lovers. I bought for my mom and she has watched it several times this week.

This 91 minute film tells about a pampered Beverly Hills chihuahua named Chloe (voiced by Drew Barrymore) who, while on vacation in Mexico with her owner Viv's (Jamie Lee Curtis) niece, Rachel (Piper Perabo), gets lost and must rely on her friends to help her get back home before she is caught by a dognapper who wants to ransom her. As a dog lover, I loved this movie. Ever since I fell in love with the Taco Bell dog, I wanted a movie filled with chihuahuas. The flow of this movie was free and easy and had many valiant and noble gestures of kindness embedded throughout the movie. The children loved this movie and kept them on the edge of their sets. The desert canyon scene was one of my favorites and is very unforgettable. Don't miss this family movie for any reason. The dog chatter was more believable and sincere than the human script! hah.
