To the modern reader, this classic book may appear stuffily written and slow paced, but it has a vibrant core of witty dialogue and strong characters that will delight you. The best part of it is the interplay between the two strong-willed main characters, whose initial mutual dislike develops into love once they learn how to overcome his pride and her prejudice. Rarely is a happy ending so fulfilling, and it may not be until the last few pages of the book that it becomes evident to the reader how masterfully Austen has set it up. And this is a large reason why the novel has such enduring appeal.To the modern reader, this classic book may appear stuffily written and slow paced, but it has a vibrant core of witty dialogue and strong characters that will delight you. The book was in good condition and the storyline compelling. I prefer the ending in the 2005 movie to the books ending. I enjoyed the detail of the book as one reads the internal thoughts of the characters.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
From the opening passage to the end, this novel is filled with romance and surprise that only a master like Jane Austen can bring to life. I recommend every female that loves a good romance to read and then re-read this book. Austen takes the reader on a journey into the times when she lived, and adds romance in a way that only women can appreciate. Even men will cry...maybe...
Pride and Prejudice is an amazing story. My wife purchased 3 books from Jane Austen (Emma, Pride and Prejudice, and Sense and Sensibility) based on her love of the Sense and Sensibility (Columbia/Tristar 1995) movie. So while she was distracted, I grabbed this novel to read first. Expecting more of the same theme, of well charactered women with no money of their own who fall in love with rich gentlemen, this was quite a humorous story. Elizabeth Bennett and her father provide plenty of sarcasm and wit, while the rest of the Bennett family are fun to laugh at. As the story neared the end I felt more of the pain that appears between the main characters, and couldn't wait to find out how it ended. A great classic story, that still provides enough entertainment for either gender. Not ... Pride and Prejudice is an amazing story.
