The Dunlop MXR M82 bass envelope filter delivers classic analog envelope filter sounds in an easy-to-use and compact pedal that's designed specifically for bass. This unique envelope filter adds a twangy effect to your bass, somewhat resembling a wah with an automatic trigger. Five different knobs on this compact unit allow you to configure the sound exactly the way you imagine it. A favorite gear piece for jazz and funkier genres, this pedal is frequently used by rock and metal artists as well. A staple stompbox in the signal flow of bassists such as Nathan East, Marcus Miller, and Justin Chancellor, the MXR M82 is highly sought after due to its unmistakable sound and unbeatable quality. At the top of the control section, separate Dry and FX knobs let you dial in the ideal mix of effected and direct signals, allowing you to bring the funk without losing the low end. The envelope pedal features a wide range of filter tones that are shaped with the Decay and Q controls. The Decay controls the initial attack of each note. With it turned high, you can make it sound like your plucking your strings bullet-fast for rapid-fire notes. Crank it to the right for a slower release of notes, achieving that falling H-bomb feeling of techno-dance bass lines. Play with the Q control to adjust the intensity of the effect. Further to the right, a simple twist of the Sensitivity knob tailors the pedal for your attack and playing dynamics as well as compensate for passive or active basses, so your audio signal is never too dull nor saturated. Powered by all-analog effects circuitry, the versatile envelope filter of the MXR M82 pedal provides clarity and punch to your bass guitar without sacrificing tone. From the vintage sounds of '70s dance music to the pulsating vibes of contemporary artists, bring your bass guitar playing to a whole new level with the rich array of options compiled in this single piece of guitar gear. Its elegant, sparkly purple color is easy on the eyes, yet its bright blue LED footswitch light is easy to localize in the mayhem of a live stage or under the well-lit environment of a recording studio. The pedal's circuitry is designed to withstand over-voltage or polarity mishaps, and its true-bypass design preserves your tone when switched off, a useful feature in complex pedalboard setups. This stompbox is best placed in a spot on the signal chain where it senses the attack of your fingers or pick on the strings for optimal response of its filters. For example, a nice spot in the chain is before fuzz effects pedals but after octave/harmonizer ones. It's all packaged in durable, lightweight aluminum housing for the ultimate in portability and pedalboard space-saving dimensions. I will be honest with you. I was a little nervous about buying a used R/C car not knowing how abused it would be. I read the description from the seller and they rated a 4 on a 5 scale. I immediately paid and contacted quickly that they received payment and item shipped! I received the car in the original sealed box, car still factory zip tied to box.     Finicky, but worth it

    Fantastic funky bubbly sound out of this thing. My only gripe is that it can be very difficult to dial in the settings to get it sounding just right. You need to fiddle with a lot of knobs, not only on the pedal, but also on your guitar and your amp to get the classic "bwop" sound to work. But once you find that sweet spot: it's funk city. I also can't recommend using a 9V power supply instead of a battery enough. This thing needs full juice. And sometimes a battery just doesn't cut it.

    MXR Bass Envelope Filter

    This is not like an EHX Bassballs. This is an extremely musical pedal. From thick bubbling to full funk, this pedal has ability to blend bass and FX to maximize the bass' fundamental. Very usable on lower settings if you want some huge, chunky effect, then bring up the Q and SENS knobs to dish out monstrous sounds that will take notice without losing your tone. Couple it with an Octave pedal for the extra push. It's great for many types of music.

    If you need a bass envelope filter, this is a good value.

    I had a Mutron III back in the 70's and though rarely useful, when I did use it the Mutron sounded great. I just purchased and received this MXR pedal, based on a demo on Youtube by Ed Friedland, and I do think it sounds quite a bit like the Mutron, but has a little more control. I like the ability to dial in some dry sound so the entire signal is not affected. The Mutron has a downward slope, but I don't find that all that useful (envelope filters are only rarely useful anyway). For the money, this is damn good and looks really slick, for whatever that is worth.

    super great pedal

    This is THE pedal for Bootsy and other underwaterness for a sane price point. It's sound great and is versatile. Very solid build, beeyootiful dark metalflake paint.
