Product Information

Tom Selleck brings another labor of love to the small screen with the original TNT western CROSSFIRE TRAIL. Based on the novel by celebrated author Louis L'Amour, the story opens in 1880, off the coast of California. At sea, Rafe Covington (Selleck) watches his best friend Charles Rodney die, but promises him that he will return to his home turf of Wyoming to take care of his ranch and his wife. Arriving in the small town, Rafe meets the gorgeous Ann Rodney (Virginia Madsen), who is being wooed by the town's most powerful landowner, Bruce Barkow (Mark Harmon). Along with his friends "Rock" Mulaney (David O'Hara) and J. T. Langston (Christian Kane), Rafe settles on Rodney's farm, enlisting the aid of wise ranch hand Joe Gill (Wilford Brimley). When it becomes clear that Barkow is simply gunning for the Rodney ranch, Rafe stands up for his friend's good name and professes to maintain control of it. But the arrival of hired gunman Bo Dorn (Brad Johnson) threatens to ruin those plans once and for all. Selleck, who first met L'Amour during the shooting of 1979's THE SACKETS, shows his unflinching reverence for the author with this stellar adaptation, directed with extreme sensitivity by Simon Wincer (LONESOME DOVE).

    Crossfire Trail - Selleck Nails it!

    This is my favorite western of all time (and I love westerns). Tom Selleck does justice to everything he's a part of, but he really nails his character in this movie. His supporting actors do just that...they fully support the main character. I wasn't overly thrilled with Mark Harmon's role, but he did irritate me, and I suppose his role was to be irritating. Being a huge Selleck fan, I may be somewhat biased, but as a western fan, no other actor could have done any better. Great novel. Great movie. In this messed up world, it's nice to see the good guys win once in a while.

    Best movie on earth

    Vintage Selleck. In his element and loving it. He makes his role feel like you are there with him every step of the way. Outstanding supporting cast and breathtaking scenery. All I wanted to do was sit on the porch of Crazy Woman ranch and smoke a stogie. Frankly

    A superb western movie and a stellar performance by Tom Selleck...

    If you like a really good western, you will absolutely enjoy this movie. Tom Selleck does an outstanding job as the lead character in this one. This movie is now in my personal collection along with such greats as "Silverado", "The Quick and the Dead" and "The Outlaw Joey Wales". A, must see, for anyone who loves western movies.

    Crossfire Trail

    Tom Selleck is an excellent cowboy, I thought they could have got a better actress for the lead female but she didn't do too bad, I just thought she looked older than the part called for but that is just my opinion. I really enjoyed this movie, I haven't read the book so I don't know how it compares to the book, but I have this movie as one of my favorites. Of course if Tom Selleck is in a western it is going to be worth watching!
