A Profile of Quality Production and FUN!
I remember as a young boy coming home from kindergarden and setting up my lunch tray in front of the TV. It is about 1974 and Sesame Street is in its frormative years and is about to begin on PBS. Soon my mother brings in my peanut butter and jelly sandwich cut in finger shapes and the the theme song of Sesame Street begins as well as the magic. This program has had such a formative impact on me, that now as a 36 year old man, I am beginning a quest as a puppeteer with some of my own designs. I originally bought this set as a form of inspiration by watching what I consider the genius of Henson, Oz, and Spinney. However, when began to view the Old School collection, unbelievably, I remembered EVERY muppet sketch and even the animations. It was truly a powerful testament to my past ... Not only that, I am a somewhat successful ceramic artist and I was able to trace the earliest form of inspiration of my current work DIRECTLY to something found in Sesame Street. So, you see how much theses videos meant to me. The product itself was very well put together covering what I consider some of the best of the entire series. Covering the first five years, the 3 disc set had many extras including bios on the puppeteers as well as menu extras. What a neat snapshot of history. Henson and Co. changed eveerything for me. What genious they all have.

Great memories, but could use a bit more content.
This is an incredible blast from the past from those who watched Sesame Street in the early 1970s, which you can now enjoy with your kids. Watch out for the TEETH, I remember that scared me as a kid. My only complaint is that there is some duplication of skits on some of these early episodes, and the space on this DVD is far too valuable to have any kind of duplication. They should have added a lot more of those 1 minute cartoon skits they showed between muppet/people shows. Otherwise very well put together. There needs to be at least another volume covering the same 5 years.This is an incredible blast from the past from those who watched Sesame Street in the early 1970s, which you can now enjoy with your kids. Very pleased with purchase
I am a 40-year old mother who remembers these episodes fondly - what wonderful memories. I enjoy the humor of the characters, the animated learning segments and the celebrity guests appearances. But I am especially delighted with how well my two sons are responding to the program. Because we live in Israel, my children have access to Hebrew language learning on television, but NOTHING compares to the quality of this program in helping my kids learn the English alphabet and number system. I highly recommend and only wish I could purchase more of the full seasons. This DVD set contains 5 episodes (the first episode of each year) as well as some great bonus highlights and classic cuts.I am a 40-year old mother who remembers these episodes fondly - what wonderful memories. A Treasure Saved on DVD
I bought my daughter this item on ebay. This is such a wonderful DVD for young and old. I can share what my children used to watch in the early days of Sesame Street now with my grand daughters. They can see how the characters are growing up just like they are! All the favorites are there like Mr. Hooper. The children can now see why the store was always called Mr. Hooper's Store. Snuffy was invisible to the adults at this point (remember that?) and the adults are very surprised when they finally get to meet him. Even Gordon still has hair! I recommend this to everyone because it is a wonderful thing to experience with your family. This is an incredible collection of the 1st few airings of Sesame Street. Brought back sooooo many memories. This includes the very 1st Sesame Street ever which I've never seen. I loved learning counting, reading, numbers and more through Sesame Street. Perfect for children of all ages and adults. My only complaint is that disc one was dang near impossible to remove from the case. It was so difficult to remove I almost broke the DVD!! Besides that, everything else is greatThis is an incredible collection of the 1st few airings of Sesame Street. Brought back sooooo many memories.
