Some of the most gorgeous music Nilsson created
I recently read an article about the life of Harry Nilsson, whom I've always been a big fan of, because there's a new documentary about his sad decline and death. Since I can no longer find any of the albums (yes, some of them were probably on LP) I'd bought of his, I set about recreating the collection. This was one of several I chose. His voice is unique (although if you run of out Nilsson to listen to, Ron Sexsmith is surprisingly similar), and he not only writes some of the most haunting music on the planet, he can make magic with other people's songs as well. I don't know why this man isn't more famous; he was such close friends with people like John Lennon and Ringo Starr who tried to help him when he was losing his battle with alcoholism, but nothing saved him. If Nilsson is an unknown to you, start with his first album, Nilsson Schmilsson and go on from there. It's the one with the incredibly moving "Without You" and the wonderful, funny, charming, "Coconut Song" ("put the lime in the coconut, etc."). He may be best known for the theme song to Midnight Cowboy, but this is the real stuff. And btw, it seems to appeal to different generations. Just magnificent.

It is a great product and it is very valuable to me.
I watched a documentary called "Who Is Harry Nilsson?" and I learned about him making this recording of old classics while he thought his voice was still good. I love it! I usually only like pretty hard rock music, but this is such a pleasant blend of vocals and instrumentals by the London Symphony Orchestra. It's so beautiful I like to play it while I'm going to bed. It's a nice change and easy on the head.
