A science-fiction-themed sitcom, 3RD ROCK FROM THE SUN looked at the absurdity of human behavior and society from the perspective of a literal outsider. Four alien beings have been transported to Earth in order to more closely study mankind. Landing in the town of Rutherford, Ohio, each member of the quartet takes on a human appearance, forming the "Solomon" family: leader Dick (John Lithgow), sophomoric Harry (French Stewart), man-trapped-in-a-woman's-body Sally (Kristen Johnston), and eldest member (in the form of a teenage boy) Tommy (Joseph Gordon-Levitt). As they set out to examine the habits of the humans around them, the team experiences the human emotions of love and loss, and encounters many comic misunderstandings from their too-literal readings of human words and actions. Using clever writing and acting rather than gaudy special effects to convey "alien-ness," 3RD ROCK FROM THE SUN was one of television's most unusual comedy series. This release contains all 26 episodes from the show's second season.

Having watched many of the 3rd Rock from the Sun TV episodes when they originally aired, I got to thinking I had missed a lot of them and kind of wondered how they ended the show since I didn't remember watching that ending episode. I purchased Season 1 at a local store. I didn't have time to watch it for a few years. So, after I watched it, I decided to check Ebay for the rest of the episodes. I purchased Season 2 and just finished watching it. There is a great Extras feature that is very long--which I really enjoyed--great interview with John Lithgow and also bloopers--and not made-up bloopers like you often see on some of today's DVD's that kind of look fakey. They also have a 3-D episode, which is of the aliens' first having dreams in their human bodies. This set comes with a ... Looking forward to purchasing ALL the six seasons now. Also enjoyed learning a lot more about how talented and how much experience all of these actors and actresses had before starting work on 3rd Rock from the Sun--I was amazed they had so much talent! French Stewart is a superb Laurel & Hardy type physical actor and he had a dance routine and sang--now, of course, can't seem to get that tune out of my head! The entire cast loved to come to work with their co-workers and it was great to see that they all got along so well together.

CD came in original box in very very good shape. Fast shipping. Well worth the money.
Absolutely hilarious ! They don't make comedies like this anymore. Great cast, hysterical situations. Each season gets better and better. We would like to collect the whole series. Highly recommended for a good laugh.

I am a great fan of 3rd Rock, and had bought the first season last year for Christmas. My children all love it as much as I do and this year I treated us to the second season which was a big hit. It seems to reach people of all ages with its stark view of humanity adding a great dose of humor and truth in each episode. I would wholeheartedly recommend this to young and old audiences. All you need to enjoy this season is a sense of humor.I am a great fan of 3rd Rock, and had bought the first season last year for Christmas. Best american comedy show ever
Comedy about 4 extraterrestrial scientists that pose as a family that comes too earth too explore and learn about the human race. Humor in the show is derived from the aliens' attempts to study human ppl and due to their living as humans themselves whilst on Earth and how they react when they do something new.
