Tomb Raider like I never imagined
It's dark, gorey, exciting, and more! Other tomb raiders that I've played Laura always seems to keep her cool and the game is more about the exploration and discovery. This Laura Croft is a young, inexperienced girl who had to find her will to survive. Other Lauras seem to handle the environments with a relative ease, whereas this Laura is punished by the environment at every turn. She's cold, shivering, dirty, scarred up, forced to adapt and adjust as she goes along, and has to survive against evil people who's reasons may be mirroring her own motives. I absolutely LOVE this game and I'm only at the 50% completion.It's dark, gorey, exciting, and more! Outstanding Game
I already have Tomb Raider as part of my Xbox 360 (converted automatically to Xbox One). I am giving this game Tomb Raider: The Final Hours Edition to a friend for his birthday. I am sure he will like it. We both played the beginning Tomb Raider over 20 years ago, and we both loved it.

Nice Game but its Lacking in Action.
I expected this game not to disappoint, and it didn't. But I expected a bit more action from the game. Story-Line: I thought it was interesting. I really liked the way that bits and pieces of the story is dropped as you progress through the game and you don't come to a full realization of what happens until the end. Just think of the Blood Countess...watered down a bit. This is what disappointed me about the story: there should have been more to the tale. So it gets an 8/10. Action: You see alot of it. What I like about it is that they ease you into being able to grasp the concept of fighting. You start out with a few enemies but after awhile, you'll be encountering about 10-15 guys with HEAVY weapons--machine guns, dynamite, and shotguns. By the end of the game, that's all they really ... By the end of the game, that's all they really have. (They have fire arrows as well but you deal with them since the beginning so its not that big of a deal). There are also a few Q&Es where you have to be able to time actions appropriately to progress through the story. While you can do this in fighting enemies or stealthily killing them, you don't HAVE to. The only thing I have about this is that its repetitive. Same dirty crazy lunatic men (only men..which some people may think is sexist and can make arguments for both genders, but I find it hilarious...) gunning you down. The only one that seems to "help" is the one in the beginning....and he gets killed soon. You fight wolves as well, but there isn't really a variation. You also get to fight some Stormguard but at the VERY end...and they're completely stupid (Really. They bring swords to a GUN fight...). And you only get to fight one Oni in the whole game...though they are CONSTANTLY talked about. All in all, action gets an 8/10. Graphics: This is usually a reason why I can't play some games. If the graphics aren't appealing, then no matter the story, I can't play it. Tomb Raider has excellent graphics. There are times when you are in control of Lara and the scenery/scope of view changes as you're taking action. One that I love is when she's climbing up the radio tower and you can see the glaring sun in the distance, the ocean, the rubble around her, yet she's reaching for new heights. It gets a 10/10. Music: Nice touches. I didn't really notice it though, which is a bit surprising because in action games, the music or sharp sound effects usually make the battles or whatever you're doing more intriguing. The only times I noticed it was whenever Lara was about to die or when she was somewhere spooky and haunting music came on. It gets a 9/10 though. Weapons: I will just say that unless if you get headshots EVERY single time or the maximum amount of EXP in every single battle as well as kill/loot a bunch of animals for EXP, you're not going to upgrade all of your weapons in a single play-through. There are unique customizations for every weapon as well as the ability to upgrade them, the cost being deducted from the amount of points you salvage. Which means every time you see a brown box or a flammable net, salvage. Save yourself the trouble. Most of them aren't even out of your way. Lara Croft's infamous two pistols aren't seen in the game until the very end....so don't expect it. This gets a 10/10. This game doesn't truly have any replay value. You don't have to go out of your way to salvage things. The puzzles are easy with a bit of thought and looking around. There just needed to be more action within this game.

Good reboot!
You gotta be crazy to not love this game. Well, paint me crazy then. Look, I wanted to love Tomb Raider. I really did. Crystal Dynamics did an astonishing job on crafting this origin story for the oft-drooled-over Lara Croft. The wonderful graphics create an environment which alternates between being lush and inviting to haunting and mysterious. The controls are crisp and easy to use, the music is epic, the mythology both of Tomb Raider and of the real life lost kingdom of Yamatai are interwoven seamlessly, and it really is an all around great game. But despite all that, I don't think I'll play through this one again. Before I catch a few arrows in the chest, I'll start off by admitting that I'm not a Tomb Raider buff. I've only ever played a few of them over the years and even then I never clocked more than a dozen or so hours climbing rocks, shooting bears, solving puzzles, and raiding tombs. It's just not my bag. It's a fine line of games and, just like most genre of music that I don't listen to, I respect that it has merits to people other than myself. And like anyone else, I too have always been a fan of Lara's two famous assets: her attitude and her athleticism, ahem. Perhaps it's precisely because I'm not the biggest fan of the Tomb Raider series that I didn't anticipate nor enjoy this title as much as the rest of my friends or the rest of the world. It just seemed to me that while it was indeed excellent in many areas, it struggled to be amazing in any one. Continuing the trend of protagonists using bows'n arrows, the player finds and is eventually able to upgrade a bow. It works fine. But only fine. For some reason it just felt less satisfying and more hollow using Lara's bow after getting used to the bow in Crysis 3. Lara's arrows seem like deadly pin-pricks; Prophet's arrows seem like thunderbolts (Yeah, it's a word. Deal with it). Her parkour-like movements were fluid and realistic-ish but for the last few years the heroes of most big name games are traceurs now. I'll grant that Lara was doing parkour back before there was a youtube for people to parkour on, so maybe she should be grandfathered in. But like I said: I'm not a follower of the series, so that doesn't make her immune to my blase' reaction to her lithe vaults and smooth rolls. Hands down, the story was great. It was compelling and drew you in, even though I couldn't care less about any of the characters other than Lara. In a few more days I'll forget their names. They served as excellent tools in showing us the evolution of Miss Croft the young and doe-eyed scholar, to Lara Croft the bad-ass bitch we all know and love. We see and feel her struggle as she's suddenly thrown into a terrible situation that breaks her down and builds her up. We watch her kill for the first time and get to see how difficult it is for her, as well as how she becomes more and more comfortable as she is forced to kill again and again. We see her afraid and hesitant, but we also see that seed of awesome asskickery inside her explode over the course of the the 20 or so hours of the campaign. But while it's great, it also feels a little too familiar. I mean, isn't this the plot from Lost, just with way more action and less head-scratching?

Great game with excellent features
The game is compelling with great graphics, and the story line keeps you interested all the way through. In addition, the side missions of exploring the caves is a great addition.
