Sci-fi role-players return to the Star Ocean for the first time in The Last Hope, a prequel game set centuries before the original game's story began. Gameplay begins in the year S.D. 10, or about 2087 A.D. Humanity has waged World War III, and Earth is the greatest casualty. Lands have been upturned, civilizations have been razed, and survivors realize that they must find a new home, on a new planet. Players follow the adventures of young Edge Maverick and Reimi Saionji, two childhood friends who have grown up to lead humanity's first intergalactic mission, in a spaceship called Calnus. At times, piloting the ship themselves -- a first in the Star Ocean series -- players have some choice as to which planets they visit and which adventures they encounter there. Exploration takes place from a standard third-person perspective. In combat, the view can change as players shift from character to character, and is accented with zooms and cutaways to display special attack graphics and other effects. Between battles, role-playing as the captain in conversations with other crew members allows players to build rapport between the characters, which lets them work better as a team and unlocks additional strengths and abilities in combat. Cut-scenes help to fill in the story between the action. Battles play out in real-time. Players can control up to four party members, flipping between them with the trigger button. Each character has different strengths, weaknesses, and special abilities, which can be enhanced and customized with combat experience. The game's "BEAT" ("Battle Exalted Action Type") system lets players assign different general fighting styles to characters, pushing them to behave more aggressively, defensively, or to focus on special attacks, for example. Increasingly sophisticated BEAT scripts become available as characters level up. Star Ocean: The Last Hope also introduces "Rush" gauges, which build slowly in regular battle and allow characters to perform distinct, powerful special moves when full.

In all, the franchise now has seven titles, including remakes, released for various platforms such as PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PSP and Game Boy In 2008, fans of the series received notice of two ways. The producer of the franchise, Yoshinori Yamagishi, announced a new game titled Star Ocean: The Last Hope, exclusively for the next generation console from Microsoft, the Xbox 360. However, along with the revelation, Yamagishi also said that this was the final game of the franchise. The Games was Baixaki check closely the latest edition of the infamous franchise. Well, outside of Japan, Star Ocean has never been a name of weight. But it seems that Square Enix, which distributes the game, seems to be investing in the franchise. Besides the Xbox 360 version, the company also recently launched two remakes for the PlayStation Portable. On Xbox 360, experience is watered by a cliché story, which includes GPs in abundance, action-packed combat voiceovers terribly annoying. Despite ups and downs, the title will please fans of the genre. If you're one of them, this is perhaps even his last hope.

Storyline is decent but gameplay is what shines.
If you beat star ocean 3, then star ocean 4 is going to be a tad easier. The game shines in its fighting system and unique skill system. I consistently found myself leveling up since I enjoyed fighting . The characters do each have a decent story and you kinda get to know them well enough to feel their emotions however, the english voices do sound kinda crappy... The two towns on lemuris are just plain boring. The other worlds however are beautiful and actually seem interesting. The design and graphics are stunning for an action rpg and often I paused to wonder if the anime/cg female lead was based after a real person. If you enjoy action rpg's such as the "Tales series or star ocean" then pick up one of the best jrpg's for the xbox 360. You can easily gain achievement points while ... Lightweight with great features
It's Armored Core do I say anymore? It's a real score I must implore. Heavy bored boomers adorned thy large machines of war.

The game star ocean the last hope is running really good and it has no problems and all 3 disc are clean no scratches on any of the disc it came in all in good shape

Excellent RPG
Star Ocean: TLH is one of the best role playing games out there. Very good battle system. Average gameplay will be around 50 hours.
