Great tribute to George.
Out of the four Beatles I find George the most fascinating. This film gives an in depth look of his music and spirituality much I hadn't fully understood before. I don't think he was so much the "quiet Beatle" as he seemed more conservative in his approach to life. He loved what he was doing best, making music. Not so much the fame that came with it. He found solace at Friar Park, his home, and loved his gardens. If you'd like to know George a little better this is the best place to start. "George Harrison: Living In The Material World" is a 2011 documentary film directed by Martin Scorsese, based on the life of Beatles member George Harrison. It has earned six nominations at the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards, winning two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Nonfiction Special and Outstanding Directing for a Nonfiction Programming. The film follows music legend George Harrison's story from his early life in Liverpool, the Beatlemania phenomenon, his travels to India, the influence of Indian culture in his music, and his relevance and importance as a member of The Beatles. It consists of previously unseen footage and interviews with Olivia and Dhani Harrison, friends, and many others. After Harrison's death in 2001, various production companies approached his widow Olivia about producing ... "George Harrison: Living In The Material World" is a 2011 documentary film directed by Martin Scorsese, based on the life of Beatles member George Harrison. Throughout 2008 and 2009, Scorsese alternated working between "Shutter Island" and the documentary. The documentary premièred at the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology in Liverpool on 2 October 2011.[2] It was shown on HBO in two parts on 5 and 6 October 2011 in the US and Canada, and as a two part Arena special on BBC Two on 12 and 13 November 2011 in the UK. A great way to remember the man that is George Harrison.

George Harrison Documentary deep and very engaging
“ Martin Scorsese's portrait of the late George Harrison, tracing his life from his beginnings in Liverpool to becoming a world-famous musician, philanthropist and filmmaker. This program weaves together interviews with George and his closest friends, photographs and archive footage including live performances - much of it previously unseen.” Yes, I did the above copy/paste for this review (I can’t remember the site where I got it - maybe IMBd? That’s because I haven’t watched it yet. I am, however, very familiar with Scorsese’s commitment to excellence and am confident that his documentary on George Harrison’s will not disappoint. Only one small defect on disc 1, but still plays through well & is acceptable considering low cost & that it is a used copy.

George Harrison:Living in the Material World
Great little inside stories on all the Beatles, not just George, both before and after fame. I've watched it a few times now and my only complaint would be the high volume level of most of the music. I have the sound at a comfortable level and then the music will come on super loud and I have to turn the sound down. Then back up to hear the speaking parts, then back down again for the music. Other than this it was very enjoyable.Great little inside stories on all the Beatles, not just George, both before and after fame. I've watched it a few times now and my only complaint would be the high volume level of most of the music.
