***MINIMAL SPOILERS*** Starts off with a Financial Firm's culling a large percentage of their talented workforce to "save" a few bucks as it were; this movie starts with the layoff of Eric Dale( Stanley Tucci), who just happens to be the Risk Assessor Officer( sort of), but gets the axe anyway. he tries to still help the firm with the numbers problems he has detected for some time, but as usual, management knows best and he is no longer welcome there. Dale gives his last but most crucial files to up-and-coming analyst Peter Sullivan( Zachary Quinto), and with his rocket-science background mathematical genius brains, he discovers that dale was really onto something huge. Peter calls on Will Emerson( Paul Bettany), the boss, and untouchable, unfireable broker, and he can't figure this out either. So Will calls the Manager, Sam Rogers( Kevin Spacey), and it is Rogers that gives the initial orders to call all key personnel in the offices, and working throughout the entire night if necessary. After much debate/arguments/discussions, it is decided that the top man of the entire company needs to be flown in to make a decision. That man is John Tuld( Jeremy Irons). Tuld makes no pretense that he has HIS job by being the son of the original creator and largest shareholder in the company, but can we all "unload the securities in our possessions with minimal losses to stay solvent?" and let the "buyers" hold the bags??? The dilemma begins with Sam Rogers wanting to hold all ethical standards that this firm has had for 107 years, but Tuld does not feel this way; Tuld is pushing the "dog-eat-dog/eat-or-get-eaten" mentality on the workers/traders, to which some of them have already displayed, perhaps out of desperation to save THEIR hides. Sarah Robertson( Demi Moore) was the firing manager at the beginning of this movie; now she's getting fired, maybe? A very eerie movie that could not have had better( or worse) timing during the 2008 financial meltdowns. can we learn from our past mistakes or are we forever doomed into these 75 year economic cycles because we cannot learn?

Compelling financial drama about the 2008 market meltdown
Excellent drama that seems extremely accurate about the root causes of and fallout from the great 2008 financial market meltdown. Very well acted and directed. This film prove you don't need explosions, car chases or superheroes to make a superb film for adults.

Sharp, engaging and great acting all around.
Excellent movie about the subprime mortgage crisis in 2008. It's looked through the eyes of the employees of a wall street investment bank. There isn't much visually in the movie besides the memorable actors/characters and it is filled with great actors with Jeremy Irons performing at his best as the CEO. I was enthralled with the plot and great dialogue throughout the whole movie. .

A movie every individual investor needs to watch. It gives you an insight into the way people act when there interest conflict with your's. If you think this behavior has changed, they still trade CDO's, MBS's and insurance contracts. Good Luck!!! PS. The product was new and great value
