    Definitely worth buying!

    You would never think that this series is nearly 40 years old!! Staring James Bolam at his most handsome (!) it is a great story, which I'm finding totally additive. All filmed in the north-east with local people as the main cast, it was very different for the BBC at the time. The characters are all so plausible and it's brilliantly acted with a number of people who've had illustrios careers since. I cannot remember seeing all the series when they were originally on tv so it is great to catch up on the complete box set. Certainly worth buying (was proving to difficult to watch slowly on LoveFilm!) Heartedly recommended for all James Bolam fans in particular!

    When The Boat Comes In Boxed Set

    I purchased the box set of When The Boat Comes In because my wife and me are both (unfortunately ) old enough to remember the series being shown on tv we live in the area the series was set i tried to buy the series in shops was expensive so when i saw this set on Ebay i got it funnily the seller was local as well we are about a third of the way through the 24 discs and are really enjoying it.The series is about the rise and fall of a soldier back from WW1 to Tyneside who makes his fortune (not always legally) and loses it IT is great viewing.I won't be offering for resale its a keeper.

    great price

    Great price, great series. ....some might find it a little dated and slow moving, but it gives great insight to the early days of the unions and the struggle for fair pay and jobs, at the same time interwoven with human interest stories which keep you watching and wanting to see more. Series 4 lost the cosiness of the earlier series as the main characters moved away from the northeast, but showed how life moved on and up, but not always for the better.
