À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Set during one of the Second World War's most shocking and unforgettable battles - the battle of Hurtgen Forest in the fall of 1944. American forces are under orders to secure a bridge flanked by enemy tanks. Men already trapped in a hellish minefield face death from all sides as shells rain down from the sky. Hundreds of lives have been lost, and the surviving troops are bloodied and shell-shocked. There are only four renegade soldiers remaining, who all have one thing in common: a desperate will to stay alive.

  • When Trumpets Fade

"When Trumpets Fade" brings home the true sentiment to what some soldiers feel with war. Although I don't agree with it, no one is really prepared to face death due to incompetent commanding officers! This film puts you into a disgruntled soldiers perspective of watching thousands of soldiers die because of his command's unwilling plight to admit they need support to take out German fortified positions, armour, and 88mm artillery. The main character becomes entangled in saving his own skin. WATCH THIS FILM! BUY THIS FILM! PAY ATTENTION TO THE FILM AND YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!! suggestions for this genre of films include : Band of Brothers DVD Collectors set and.... "A Midnight Clear" these are some excellent suggestions as well!!!! YOU WILL BE AMAZED!!!!!

  • When Trumpets Fade

A riveting World War II account of a single American rifle squad fighting in the God forsaken Hurtgen Forest. Actors conduct themselves much like real soldiers -- (that is: not a lot of your typical "pansey acting Hollywood types" in this one). It is gut wrenching, so be prepared.

  • When Trumpets Fade

This is one of the better made for cable movies you will see (made in 1998 for HBO), it is the story of Private David Manning (Ron Eldard), who is shell shocked and exhausted after serving on the front line for an extended period-but one of the only surviving members of his platoon. He requests a dismissal, but instead is promoted to sergeant and given a platoon of inexperienced soldiers to lead. Manning finds only further devastation when he and the platoon he is given are put into the battle of the Hurgen Forest-one of the bloodest fights of WWII. Great battle scenes ensue as the platoon attacks and defends their positions. Director John Irvin who directed both Hamburger Hill and The Dogs of War continues his excellent work with this one. • Grim, gripping story of a little known battle from WWII

A better than average movie much in the same vein as "Saving Private Ryan". War in WTF is not pretty, it's ugly, uncomfortable and covered in blood and excrement. The protagonist has no illusions about trying to win the war, all he wants to do is live to see another day and he's not particular about pushing someone else in front of a bullet meant for him. The Battle for the Hurtgen Forest was a bloody fiasco that should've and could've been avoided with the proper use of aerial bombardment and flanking maneuvers. Gritty and historically accurate I recomend this movie to the military historian and casual fan alike. Da Worfstger

  • Soldiers are born when bullets fly, and Cannons Roar

The last time I seen this video was back when I was a teen. I later on Enlisted in the US Army in 2006. My Father told me before I left the MEPS (Military Entry Processing Station) " Soldiers Are Born, When Bullets Fly, and Cannons Roar, Make Me Proud Son." Now I know where he got the saying from. This DVD is one of the Best WWII movies I seen, Yet they all are the best. let us not forget our heros, fallen comrads, service men and women.Let not our heros be made and then forgotton. All gave some, some gave all........
