The only true Zeldaish game on the PS3
<b>The game is a strange concept You first start out now Earth looking for your family member well if you play ELLEN shes looking for her Mom I haven't played the Professor his name is KEATS He's searching for an answer to the Occult?.Strange yes but anyway the game then turns weird you are transported to the NetherWorld but you will get used to it.The game kinda reminds me of Fable accept the game is completely different in Genre. The game has a choice of Keats or Ellen and they both have different quests that have to be played out you can also buy more Quests from the PSN network for between $1.99 to $5.99. Cool idea wish more RPG's had this in it. Great game! But not exactly what the demo suggests...
I played the demo for this game before it was released and was instantly hooked on the action, the beautiful graphics and the imaginative use of the sixaxis to capture folks. Owning the (full) game has changed my perception a bit... If you were a big fan of the fast pace action of the demo, then you can expect the game to go at a slower pace than you bargained for. Whereas the demo drops you right into the fray of the Netherworld, the full story is much more involving with the main plot being a mystery of a murder which brings our 2 heroes to a strange, desolate town. The story is very interesting and for anyone who enjoys a good mystery like myself, this game will keep you engaged apart from the action. However, the method of the telling of this story is mostly through comic book cut ... With that being said, the graphics, music and visual effects of the game are spectacular and get even more exciting than the demo, and capturing new folks (the enemies) and increasing their powers to battle awesome Folklores (the bosses) never gets tiring. The game does not allow chapters to be re-played, but having 2 (differing) characters POV's and quite a few side quests does allow for good playback, though it still seemed a bit short for my taste. Overall, it is an enticing story with a good mix of action and mystery, and even if the comic book scenes do not connect the player with the characters, there is a lot of fun to be had. I would not spend the $50-60 to buy it new, but now it is a great bargain game to play/own for any fans of Action/RPG's.

Psychopomp, the video game
I rented Folklore, not really sure what to expect. It had received stellar reviews, but so had Bioshock and Halo 3, which were both the definition of mediocre video games. I am similarly cautious of games highly influenced by Japanese design conceits, because I don't get along well with Japanese video game culture. I am always pleased when I am cautious for no reason. Folklore is a little darling of a game . . . it has a charm that I couldn't hope to explain myself. I look at it time and again and I think to myself "Kingdom Hearts wishes it was this game." The story is not particularly deep, but it is an excellent mystery. The two playable characters of the game, Ellen and Keats, are looking into a murder that happens in an Irish village by the name of Doolin ... I rented Folklore, not really sure what to expect. What makes them unique amongst investigators is that they have the ability to travel to the afterlife and speak with the dead, which cuts down on a lot of the guesswork when solving murders. The afterlife as depicted in Folklore is a complex place -- myths of many cultures shape and are shaped by human perception. Most of Folklore's gameplay comes with exploring these areas and doing battle with their denizens -- in order to progress through the game, Ellen and Keats must pick up the correct powers from the denizens they absorb the abilities from. Hints exist, but most of the exploration is left to the player. The other side of gameplay is the actual footwork of solving the murder, which involves questioning the residents of Doolin and figuring out who did what and why. As with the standard murder mystery, it is far more complex than 'Victim stole Murderer's lollipop, so he wanted revenge.' I purchased Folklore after failing to finish it on the first rent, and I have been happy with my choice. Folklore can be rushed through for story alone, or it can be doggedly scoured to find each and every level up and power enhancement in the game, which requires some 'grinding' but also puzzle-solving. There are optional sidequests, and downloadable content that offers new costumes for the characters and new powers for combat. As to the gripes, I have a few: the story mostly rolls out in a sort of dynamic comic book form, which proceeds just a hair slower than my reading speed, which results in me tapping the fast-forward button during the cutscenes about every 3/4 of second to get things moving. That's damn annoying. This game also has one of the infamous design conceits I cannot stand -- the story and the gameplay feel disconnected. The characters and enemies are in totally different areas, cordoned off by load screens, and ne'er the two shall meet. I feel very strongly like the story was a designer's brilliant vision, and that every so often he deigns to allow me to fiddle with the controller for 20 minutes before the next scene of his magnum opus appears before you. I don't feel integrated into the experience. That being said, Folklore is still a beautiful game with a sharp story and decent gameplay. If you like your games heavy on adventure with some RPG elements, then this is the game for you. This game will appeal to: Adventure game fans, people who like pretty games, people who like collecting powers for characters, people who who like interesting stories This game will not appeal to: Shooting game fans, people who like high action

Unique RPG
I decided to buy this game because it was one of the few on the PS3 at the time that actually looked to be much good in my opinion. For my PS2 I have games such as Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, .hack//, Jak & Daxter, Kya etc. Folklore will appeal to a certain audience I believe, not everyone will enjoy this game. It takes play I believe in Ireland, and revolves around a girl named Ellen and a man named Keats. Ellen is trying to discover her past that she doesn't remember and Keats is a supernatural reporter looking for a story. They discover that Doolin the town is a gateway to the Netherworld. To get a story, and the past uncovered, they continuously go to the Netherworld, fight Folks(monsters) and Folklore(boss monsters) to uncover the truth. I'm personally really ... Folklore - RPG game.
I downloaded the demo from PSN and immediatelly got hooked up with this game. It has an eerie atmosphere, and it´s kinda dark (the main reason I liked, along with the music). It reminds me of a Tim Burton movie, which I consider very cool. The story is about a ghost village, and two characters - Ellen, a girl who is kind of introspective, and Keats, a reporter for a supernatural magazine. One day, Ellen receives a letter from her dead mother, pointing out a way to some village. At the same time, Keats receive a weird message, and decide to go to the village as well. Upon reaching the village, they discover it is inhabited by dead people (more precisely, ghosts and souls of the dead). After talking to some weird fellas, they embark on a journey of discover, to find out what is it all ... I downloaded the demo from PSN and immediatelly got hooked up with this game. Haven´t played too much, but it´s a nice game, with nice graphics music and sounds. Controls seemed natural to me (the soul catching thing is very cool). That´s it. I recommend downloading it from PSN and giving it a try, if you like RPG. :D
