    Nikon Film Scanners

    It does work, however, it is slow and Nikon is not the best company for software. Their initial software is mediocre and they never re-release software for an older product to support an operating system update. Also, everyone quit making quality film scanners for consumers. I think they were really foolish, based on the current demand for the product. They didn't consider all the people with film that wanted to get the picture to digital and do it themselves. So, now we are left with purchasing old (8-10 years) products that are no longer supported and subject to not being able to obtain software or repair on failed products. The newer units (3-6 years old) often sell for more than original purchase cost and don't have a warranty. Well, we have a predicament here: Do ...

    Good value, excellent scans with a professionally cleaned version.

    This is an affordable alternative to flatbed scanners for those looking to make higher quality images from 35mm film. It runs great with VueScan software, as obviously Nikon's software is no longer supported or updated. It's imperative that you look for a totally serviced and cleaned model, as the internal mirrors become dirty over the years. You'll want to keep the scanner covered when not in use as well to avoid internal dirt.

    Good product, works exactly as expected with very good image quality.

    We have scanned over 2000 frames with more to go with good results. We had a little trouble getting started because the free Nikon software had no Windows 7 (64bit) driver that we could find. But after we loaded the trial version from Vuescan 9.0.70, the Nikon Coolscan 4.03 (free) software used the Coolscan driver and worked OK. We needed a basic raw scan of each frame and used other common apps to make needed corrections. We purchased Silverfast 8.0 software that installed and worked, but it was too complicated for us, we could never even figure out how to select a frame to scan, after many efforts to find/get instructions from Silverfast, we gave up.     Great Film Scanner

    The Nikon Coolscan IV delivers the goods, and is easy to set up. High resolution CCD, extremely sharp lens, USB interface. I advise purchasing one that's been fully serviced. ...A great film/slide scanner!

    Great experience

    This scanner is awesome. Scans a million times faster than my old epson 4490 and the quality is much better. This guy delivers a quality product in a quality condition.
