Excellent value for very good Job !
This rod is an excellent choice if You don't want spend much $$ in a famous fly rod brand. Redington's rods are a good choice, with lifetime warranty. I bought it for New Zealand trip and I was not desapointed. #5 weight is very versatil, maybe to light for heavy nymphing, but the job is done with the Vice Rod even on the famous Tongariro River. Smaller river or stream, the rod was perfect. Well balanced, very good power shooting, I don't know if I need to tell more about it... Of course it's not a high end Sage or Scott... but for a fishing trip, I think it's the best choice. This rod is an excellent choice if You don't want spend much $$ in a famous fly rod brand. Redington VICE Look beyond and miss one of the best at any price !
I was fishing my 9'5wt Sage that I laid darn near 800.00 for .. Durring a lunch break one of the guides was talking about rods , reels and prices .. and that he loved his Redington VICE so much that he sold a few of his more expensive rods and bought 5 VICE rods in various sizes. I took the 9 for 5 and walked out into the river .. WOW !! This can't be a rod that sell brand new with a tube ..cant be! I have heard some guys finding them for $160.00ish brand new ! A stealth Brown bolted out like a rocket and smashed a wooly bigger... NICE ! Tip protect tippet , turned this 22" beauty with ease and the magic of the battle was transmitted right to my hand. "I'M ORDDR A COUE OF THESE " I thought to myself ..tonight ! This rod is a real work gem , excellent backbone , it just felt fantastic . ... My Sage was only better in fine details ..but as sick as it makes me feel the Vise performs every bit as good as the Sage . Hardware is not as nice but still very good indeed . Cork is nice but not gorgeous as seen on Sage offerings . I also liked it as much as my TFO rods ..that too was a shock. Redington cracked this baby out of the park.. would not be surprised to see them closeout and re-label this rod in a new color and triple the price ! Redington
