Mr. Holland's Opus
I bought this movie because of Richard Dreyfuss! He is a entertainer at it's best. In this movie I really enjoyed his honesty and truthfulness about the way we choose our lives to go down one path only to run smack into the path we were suppose to take anyway. The challenges and rewards from Holland's "Opus" was clear each year working with Children. What was amazing in this movie it showed the children grow up into fine adults, productive, civil, caring, and loving adults. And the performance of each actor/actress complimented one another all the way through this beautiful love story of Mr. Holland's Opus. KittyKat5851I bought this movie because of Richard Dreyfuss! Started out good, but could have been better.
I liked how the movie began. It seemed like it was going to be a good movie and the description was interesting. However, I feel (like most Hollywood movies) that it was rushed and could have been more detailed in certain parts. Unfortunately, the temptation to have an affair with a teenager just ruined it for me. I lost interest after that. The movie should have placed more emphasis on his family. Personally, I feel it would have been a much better movie if he had maybe put more of his time into his son. It could have been a wonderful storyline if he invested his talent in his son rather than the kids that made a brief appearance in the movie. Anyway, it was "okay". I expected more, but I could have rated it much better if the part about looking at a teenage GIRL in ways that should shame ... I liked how the movie began. This movie is a classic. It has so much feel, and heart. Every time I see it some thing new comes out of it. The music is great, the story is great. I feel once you see it you want to see it again, and again. So by all means buy it DVD or VHS.
