I was really only expecting the sewing machine and presser foot. This package came with not just that, but 4 bobbins, a pack of sewing needles, all kinds of replacement hardware for the little features that are more delicate and might break with time, and a cleaning kit! Absolutely stellar experience!!!

Strong machine for its size
Easy to use once you get to see what this machine can do. However, the manual which comes with the machine, does not really answer any general questions. For instance, when I was ready to sew a sample fabric, I noticed that the needle was positioned to my left instead of in the middle. (The machine has a dial to set the needle position at either left, middle or right) Referring to the manual did not help me with how to return the needle position to middle. I had the stitch dialed in for "normal" stitch thinking that the position would move, but it did not. However, when I changed the dial to make another stitch, the needle position finally moved for that specific stitch. Another concern I have is what stitch I'm to use for overlocking and the manual does not answer that question ... Easy to use once you get to see what this machine can do. Forget the Electronics , This Machine Sews Like a Dream
I had purchased a Singer Curvy back in March and had nthing but trouble with it. The upper tension was verey, very difficult to adjust. It had to be adjusted every time I sat down to sew, even on the same project. Singer company thought the timing might have been off as well...on a brand new machine? So I sent it back and started searching for another "simpler" machine. I have found it in the Singer 4423. It sewed beautifully the very first time. It is a fairly heavy machine and sems pretty durable. The threading of the upper thread makes it pretty obvious that the thread is in correctly...no sawing the thread through the tension discs here. I love that I can drop the feed dogs on this machine. I am not an industrial sewer but I am looking forward to having many hassle free projects ... Good Days and Bad Days
Overall, I am happy with this machine. Some days I seem to be plagued with problems, others not so much. The needle threader seems to have gotten out of whack, and only works some times. I have had several bobbin jams for some reason, that I do not understand. It definitely seems like it is built ruggedly, and has many nice features.

Sturdy & works well (assembly was a little messy)
Some parts of the sewing machine were not assembled properly, so I had to partially take it apart and reassemble it before using the machine. Otherwise, everything came nicely. All accessories were in tact, and the seller was nice enough to send two bobbins charged with white thread. The machine itself is very powerful, and works well with multiple layers of knits.

Love my Singer!!!
I'm not much of a sewer but at times need to make or fix something - if you can do it in a straight line I'm your girl! My mother was a beautiful seamstress (although I wish now I would have let her teach me something) and she bought me a Singer Sewing Machine for my birthday. I thought it was a really stupid gift for me but over the years I've grown to love it. We have a condo in SC and spend about half the year there and for some reason I always need a sewing machine there to fix or make something. I tried to get the same model as my old one, it's about 25 years old, but I think anyone who has one knows they never wearout. Anyway, this site showed different Singer models and all that they could do. I had purchased a couple of Brother Sewing Machines but they were all ... I think they could have made the automatic threader just a little more user friendly and I would have given it five stars. I never have to worry about how heavy the material is to go through - it goes like a champ. Everyone should have one!
