Product Information

The Logitech X-540 5.1 computer speakers can be mounted for a full surround sound experience, and color-coded jacks ensure that the user cannot hook the speakers up wrong. Included with the Logitech computer speakers is a wired remote for volume and bass control, and it can also be used to select Matrix mode, which enables the 5.1 surround sound effect. Five speakers and a subwoofer make up the set of Logitech X-540 5.1 computer speakers. The subwoofer alone pushes 25 watts of power, and the other five speakers bring 45 watts of power for a total of 70 watts for the entire system of Logitech computer speakers. Some additional features include satellite-speaker mounting options, a real-time bass equalizer, larger air displacement, and a center-channel LCD clip for monitor mounting. Some of the technical features for the Logitech computer speakers include a 4-Ohm impedance for the subwoofer, a 4-Ohm impedance for each additional speaker, a minimum frequency response of 40 Hz, and a maximum frequency response of 20 kHz.

    Logitech x540--Good for value.

    These speakers are nice for the price. I use them for playing my Xbox 360. They sound great with games like Call of Duty and other FPS. I like the matrix feature because it allows you to get the feeling of full surround sound without having a 5.1 stereo output. This also comes in handy because it gives you a better feel for where enemies are in the game. Overall these speakers put out nice sound and have a good sub-woofer to go with them. I would recommend them to anyone who has a passion for good sound quality on a limited budget.

    A good deal for 5.1 speakers on a low budget.

    I researched these speakers before I bought them, and it was these that I was looking for specifically because I wanted the metal grates over the speakers and the "Matrix" function. The Best Buys around me stopped carrying the X540's and only had the Z506's which look more like desk speakers where I wanted wall mountable speakers, so onto Ebay I went. I was surprised to find this set for as cheap as I did. I upgraded to these from an ancient set of X-240's I got back in '07. I have to say that I miss the metal grate over the sub speaker which the X540's lack for whatever reason, but overall I like the way these are made, the mounting areas on the back make it easy to hang these from a nail. The variance in cord length was also odd, but I just used bread ties to wrap up the excess. Sound ...

    Worth getting for a computer system

    These speakers do pretty well for 5.1 low ends. If you are using them for your tower, laptop, or for use with a gaming system, they are worth a good look. They are inexpensive and ship well if they are NIB. Setup takes 2 minutes and the manual is brief and to the point. If you are looking for a high end system, you might want to look at a more rangy system, as this one covers only so much and can distort at high dB's. It handle's soft dialogue very well, little hiss or static is ever noticed. The matrix function allows you to simulate a 5.1 system when only given a computer stereo out. So, when the bass kicks in you really feel it in a small room. That's the one nice thing about this package, the sub is pretty good for a small thing. I watched an action flick on a laptop with ...

    Stupid good for its time, though probably outdated now...

    I bought this system back in 2009 and have used it on a daily basis and continue t. This system costs the same amount or more today as it did in 2009, that's how good it is for the money. It still works well. I recommend the X-540 for a small dedicated PC or console game setup where you can surround yourself with all 5 speakers and sit next to the woofer, it's wasted as a home theater system and not ideal there due to treble and total volume output being a bit lacking (though this is how I ended up using it most of the time anyway). It's currently part of my retro console videophile/audiophile setup and surround-sound supported games sound excellent. There are probably better gaming surround systems for the money now, but if you can't find one at a similar price then you can't go wrong ...

    This is the system to look for if you want a decent bang for your buck.

    I bought this set because I'm use to them and have owned a previous setup since 2010. They sound pretty good for the money and I think the sound is a little better than their newer models that they have out now (May 2015). It seems as though Logitech has cheapened their newer models since the X-540 that they have out now, which doesn't surprise me as many companies seem to fall back on doing that eventually. From my personal experience with Logitech's speaker systems is that their prime was between 2003-2008 as far as quality and manufacturing of their products go. Then, something changed or they switched manufacturers or they just simply cheapened their products with their existing manufacturing company(s).
