Warner Bros HD DVD Disc Rot Ruins Your Collector's Set
Buyer beware! Unfortunately this Warner Bros HD DVD release (and most WB HD DVD releases) is prone to disc rot, which makes this classic collectible 5-disc set unwatchable and worthless! Warner Bros will not replace your set either as it is beyond warranty. Do not buy this Collector's Edition or the Ultimate Limited Edition Briefcase set if you want to actually watch it. They are no longer worth anything! Shame on Warner Bros for ruining a great Blade Runner collection and many other HD DVDs in your collection. Buyer beware! Great retention of quality
For a transfer, this is one of the best I have seen. While most film is transfered save for a select few titles, this film holds a great level of detail in the majority of the scenes without close ups of actors. I would say that it is a matter of lighting. In the end, the film is great and the only reason to consider HD is for the sound and video quality and all the bonus material. If you have an HD DVD player or want to do HD on a budget, grab a copy on HD DVD. SInce the format is dropped but still compatible with standard dvd's there is no better way to go if you are on a budget.For a transfer, this is one of the best I have seen. A Masterpiece Shown at its best
I first watched Blade Runner the first day it came out in 1982 and watched it again in the theatre a few days later. It was one of the first DVDs I owned. And I purchased the 5 disc HD DVD set the first day it was available. This five disc set is incredible. You can see all four theatrical releases in all their glory in HD DVD. The remastering of the this movie is flawless and will be sure to amaze fans of the movie. The extras in this set are unreal. Interviews, deleted scenes and behind the scenes looks are enough for even the most avid fan. I highly recommend this set for fans of Blade Runner and for fans of beautiful movies to watch. This is a must own for the fans of High Definition television. One more thing in the five disc set is the work print of this movie is included ... Simply Fantastic Purchase
First of all I'm new to ebay, and I've been seeking the original theatric release of Blade Runner for years, only to be disappointed to find only the director's cut available. I looked here, and I couldn't believe what I found in all of one (1) second. I selected this one because it not only had what I wanted, it also had everything else. I won at an awesome bid, and two days later I received it from all the way across the country. I couldn't be more pleased. My only disappointment is my fault. I have to go over to a friends house to watch it! I don't have HD TV, or equipment . . . yet.
