Almost a good return to the originals....
Love the 3-D effects and especially the old-school Arnold Terminator T-800. The Kyle Reese character was the only real drawback on this as no one can ever come close to Micheal Biehns' version, but still the movie was fairly solid with great special effects and amazing sound.

Totally fun and enjoyable and better than expected
The plot of Terminator Genisys basically revolves around John Connor (Jason Clarke) sending Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to save John's mother Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke, no relation in real life to Jason Clarke). Sounds pretty familiar to us Terminator fans, right? What Genisys does is builds on the plots in the previous films by keeping the main plot similar to the first movie, but having Kyle meet with an altered timeline in 1984. This Sarah is much different from the Sarah he was expecting (and much different from the Sarah we saw in the original film) in that she's already a bad-A and knows all about Kyle being sent back to save her and the Resistance and the war against the machines. In fact, she's been being trained by the reprogrammed T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) for ... You know in Back to the Future 2 when Marty goes back to 1955 Hill Valley for the almanac and you see the other Marty (from the first Back to the Future) trying to do his thing and get his parents back together? So you have a new movie but still get to see events from the first movie again, like the Enchantment Under the Sea dance scenes? Every time I watch BTTF2, getting to revisit and experience that scene from a different perspective than the first movie makes me so excited, and Terminator Genisys made me feel that same way at times. I've seen all of the Terminator movies multiple times, mostly because my husband is a huge fan of the franchise. They're all enjoyable to an extent (some more than others), but, to be honest, it's been a couple of years since I've watched the previous movies. Even without having seen the other movies in the series recently, I still enjoyed Genisys and have to say that I don't think it's necessary to have seen the previous films recently, or at all. That being said, I do think it could be beneficial and add to your experience to watch or rewatch them before seeing Genisys. The parts about this film that I thought were the most fun were when we got to revisit scenes or hear similar lines from the previous films. It brought the nostalgia factor way up for me, which I loved. There were some things I missed that I didn't realize were nods back to previous films in the series, until my husband leaned over and whispered to me about them, so it doesn't hurt to rewatch the series beforehand, or at least the first two. Again, not necessary, but could amp up your enjoyment. Bottom line - I've always enjoyed science fiction and time travel movies, and this one was a winner in my book. I honestly thought this movie was great. It was action-packed but also pretty funny. It was nostalgic while still being inventive and feeling fresh. I ended up enjoying it way more than I expected and had a really fun time.

Dead format still works!
If you still have a 3D TV, then this is no brainer. The story in my opinion is one of the better ones in the history of Terminator movies. However, this movie really shines in the 3D realm. The 3D effects are great! The production value is very high and it shows. Seeing the young Arnold shots in 3D is incredible. Hopefully VR will save the format and improve it by offering a virtual large cinema screen. Good movie, great effects, fun watch, great value!If you still have a 3D TV, then this is no brainer. Predator 3D: Terrific 3D Update
I've been a fan of the original "Predator" since it first premiered, and have watched it many times. I recently bought the 2013 3D release of the original film, and I thought it was terrific. The 3D effects are appropriately subtle, giving additional depth to the jungle scenes. None of the silly "weapons coming at you" stuff, just an enhancement of this visual treat. This Blu-ray release is clear, with none of the grainy video that many older films suffer when released on video. Part 1 was just kill Sara Conner. Part 2 was just kill John Conner Part 3 was the absolute best and it was kill anyone who knew John Conner. The terminator had unreal tournament weapon attachments!! A plus that Genisys didn't have. Terminator Salvation ventured into the Ai doesn't know he is a robot thingy (brilliant!), and showed us the battle of the future with Skynet, except there were no laser weapons like in T1-- just bullets. Not cool! but still enjoyable just for the Sam Worthington role. Then there is Genisys: Genisys began from when John Conner's wife (a rational guess from part 3--since John Conner died- remember) sent Arnie back to protect Sara Conner creating an alternate future in 1984 and that's where the fun begins. Arnies comedy is STILL smart as ever! And now we get to ... Part 1 was just kill Sara Conner. And a major plot twist in a loop (time travel loop with John Conner) that never ends where the good guy becomes the bad guy. Now there is no reason to have a John Conner. The biggest problem with this movie is how did John send Kyle Reece back if they killed off Skynet. So they they all need Skynet, too , just like John Conner needs Kyle and Sara. And Sara and Kyle need John. Genisys is not as good as 3, but better than 2 and Salvation. The new Sara Conner was perfect.. The only problem in Genisys is they (Kyle and Sara) got stuck in a future where they have two of themselves or none. I remember Sara died of Leukemia in part 3. I'll tell you what I want to see in the next Terminator- is the continuation of part 3 from where the machines started taking over and killing everyone. Also would like to see how the laser guns got made.
