"A wonderful natural writer and storyteller, Weiner renders her characters and their messy, sometimes wrenching lives in details that resonate as the real deal...smart, loveable, and mordantly funny."-- "Publishers Weekly", "Weiner balances romantic formula with fresh humor, deft characterizations, and literary sensibility."-- Elaine Showalter,The Guardian, "With keen insights into women's lives, Weiner takes the serious themes of commitment, self-esteem and identity and mixes in moments of laugh-out-loud humor."--The Philadelphia Inquirer, "Weiner possesses a warm heart and a wickedly funny eye for social interaction. She writes to entertain, yes, but also to empathize and connect." --Baltimore Sun, "Weiner has a brilliant eye for social stratum, character sketches, and renderings of suburban atmospherics." --The Washington Post Book World, "Weiner has a brilliant eye for social stratum, character sketches, and renderings of suburban atmospherics." -- "The Washington Post Book World", "Hilarious, heartbreaking, and insightful, Weiner shows she can write with exquisite tenderness as well as humor." --The Miami Herald, "Weiner balances romantic formula with fresh humor, deft characterizations, and literary sensibility." -- Elaine Showalter, "The Guardian", "A wonderful natural writer and storyteller, Weiner renders her characters and their messy, sometimes wrenching lives in details that resonate as the real deal...smart, loveable, and mordantly funny." --Publishers Weekly, "These autobiographical stories suggest that Weiner is the kind of wise-cracking pal who makes a great lunch date. When he says he's picked 'Lonelyguy 78' as his screen name, she blurts, 'Was 'Desperateguy' taken?' Even a coda on the inspiration for the stories is a hoot. Book in good condition as described (the package was damaged in shipment and looks like someone cut it with a sharp blade. Only missing a piece off back corner and top corner of last 2 pages - not seller’s fault!) I am very pleased with my purchase - great price, smooth transaction, great communication and fast ship. Recommend this seller to all. Thank you!

  • Give the Guy Not Taken A Try...by Jennifer Weiner

I was very excited about the new release of her recent book...The Guy Not Taken. I am a little embarrassed to say that I did not realize that the book was infact a collection of short stories and read the first four stories trying to understand how this all fit together. To my surprise the stories were obviously not connected at all. I definitely felt foolish but obviously understood why I didn't realize my mistake sooner. I had not read the inside cover of the book and never looked into the storyline. Why you ask?...because I have never been disappointed by a Jennifer Weiner book and I continuous found a strong connection to many of her quirky main characters even if they didn't always fit me to a tee. This book is a collection of short stories written at different times in Mrs. ...

  • Great Author; her worst book...

I LOVE Jennifer Weiner, but was soooo disappointed by this book. The title has nothing to do w/the content. If you are a fan, I would recommend skipping this one. In Her Shoes, Goodnight Nobody, Good in Bed all are great. This just is a few short stories I think she compiled to make a quick buck. Not worth the read.

  • Jennifer Weiner writes about your life, your friends...

Decided to buy it because I have read ALL of Jennifer Weiner's other books and enjoyed them all. I will buy her next book, as soon as she writes it. I enjoy her writing because she writes about life, and things that happen to us mom's, be it new mom's or second or third time mom's and women in general. She is writing about my life and the people in it. I would highly recomend her.

  • Great title, suits the book.

Once again, Jennifer Weiner has delighted her readers with a great book. I couldn't wait for it to be released and bought it as my "vacation book". I could not put it down. Unlike her other books, this is a book of short stories. Her characters are as likeable as all those in her other books, all of which I have read and loved. The only dissappointing thing, as with most short stories, is that the stories are to short. I loved each story so much and wanted them to continue.

  • The Guy Not Taken by Jennifer Weiner

This sassy, humorous collection of short stories is a return to Ms. Weiner's classics "Good in Bed" and "In Her Shoes". I truly enjoyed her characters' viewpoints and was happy to be rewarded after the disappointment of "Goodnight Nobody." The only drawback, as is often the case with short stories, you are left wanting more!
