The PlayStation 2 receives its second NHRA-licensed racing game with "Countdown to the Championship," which incorporates the tiered qualifying system introduced in the 2007 season. Dragster fans will compete in a 23-race format, earning points after each event based on their overall finish. The top eight point leaders through 17 races advance to the playoffs, where four additional races will decide which drivers reach the official NHRA POWERade championships. More than 100 Top Fuel Dragsters, Pro Stock, and Funny Cars are available to race on 20 authentic tracks. Tony Schumacher, Greg Anderson, John Force and over 30 other professional drivers are available to play as or against in a choice of quick race, multiplayer, and career modes.

Pro Drag Racing Finally!!!
Finally somebody has brought realistic professional drag racing to console games. I loved the first edition, NHRA Championship Drag Racing, but it was short lived. The fact that so many ridiculous times were possible kept you a interested a little longer than you probably should have been. Now that THQ is making the game, Countdown to the Championship is definitely the ultimate drag racing game. You actually have to steer and tune these cars, just like the pros do it. Get out of the groove and you're done, same as real life. This game will actually make the drag racing enthusiast think about what he, or she, needs to do each and every time down the track. The addition of the Pro Stock Bike category is definitely a plus as well. If you love drag racing, this is definately the console ... The best drag racing game so far.
If you are looking for a console drag racing game this is it. This game far exceeds previous games in quality and fun factor. This game is good for all ages, set the difficulty to rookie and anyone can pick up the controller and have fun, set it to pro and you have to tune your car before each race or you will be beat. I wish they would make a new drag racing game for the new consoles (xbox 360, ps3) but so far no one has so as of right now this is the best you can get. A great game for any drag race fan.If you are looking for a console drag racing game this is it. This game far exceeds previous games in quality and fun factor. Great Game if you love PRO Drag Racing!I was not disappointed one bit ,love the game,sounds,Fumes(Yes Fumes you can see them around the Fuel Cars as they are running).It has a great feel to it and quite addicting!.Highly Recomended if you Like Drag Racing.The BEST Drag Racing Simulator Game PERIOD!
