IF U NEVER READ A BOOK PLEASE BY THIS ONE!
I hate to read, however this is the the only book o have ever read cover to cover. I read it over 15 years ago and from that day it changed my whole life, till this day i reflect ob this book. I had been taught many things about the next life ti come through my religion and though i have no idea what this ladies religion is, many parts were almost exactly what i was taught. I recently bought it for my son, it also helped him tremedouly..I hate to read, however this is the the only book o have ever read cover to cover. deceived by the light
This book by Betty has a lot of new age ideas in it and alot of stuff is opposite of what the Bible says. The Bible says that in the last days many will be deceived. Not only will unbelievers be deceived but also those who have trusted Jesus for their salvation may be equally deceived. The Scripture says, "For false christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect." The problem that many have in our day is that they seek "signs" and "wonders" rather than Jesus. Experience has become their teacher rather than the Word. My response is simply, Jesus--the only begotten Son of God. There is salvation in no other. My hope is not in our experiences, but in a person. She is a Mormom. A lot of ... If you take a closer look at her new-found belief system one is able to not only see Mormon ideas but beliefs that are found in the occult. Betty says "within our universe are both positive and negative energies, and both types of energies are essential to creation and growth. These energies have intelligence--they do our will. They are willing servants." The Christian desires to obey the will of God, not to force God to do his bidding. This is the essential difference between occult practice, magic, and Christianity. Betty Eadie never mentions the crucifixion or the atonement for sin. In her worldview they simply are not needed. There is no mention of evil or victory over sin. I don't care how good someone's intentions are if they are telling me lies. I think she is sincere, but greatly deceived as most of the new age teachers are. Eadie refuses to release her medical records or provide any corroborating evidence that she had actually died. She simply expects us to take her word for it. I find that strange. Her ideas on spirituality are a strange mixture of Mormon and New Age themes. I don't know how much money she makes, but Sylvia Browne rakes in millions each year. Don't just take my word for it, check it out yourself.

I found this book after reading several other books about the effects of personal thoughts on a person's life, and decided to search for other books like them. This title popped out at me, although it wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but I decided to give it a try. On page 58 I found something interesting. The author is recounting her experience of death and visiting a 'heavenly realm' where she learned concepts she knew nothing or little about previously. She said, "There is power in our thoughts. We create our own surroundings by the thoughts we think. Physically, this may take a period of time, but spiritually it is instantaneous. If we understood the power of our thoughts, we would guard them more closely." That gem alone is worth reading the book, but it's not the only one. The ... The author uses humor, sincerity, and unapologetic honesty as she tells her near-death experience. I felt that she never tried to explain anything as all conclusive as if she knew or had all truth or all knowing. She never attempted to demean one's personal beliefs and justify another's. This book isn't for everyone. Some readers will scoff at 'heavenly' ideals of paying attention to what you think or say because of the following consequences, and miss the truth and practical applications because it's not from an accepted university classroom. Those with an open mind will enjoy the book even thought they may not believe as the author, or understand the depth of each point she makes. At the minimum, this book is entertaining and a great bedtime story. At the maximum it's a fresh look at future possibilities with inspiration for daily living.

It answers a lot of questions for me.
This book gave me some compelling arguments against suicide and why the presence of so many problems and suffering in the world as well as my life. It spoke to me at a time I really needed it in plain language from a person who had no reason to lie. Requires an open mind though....fundamentalists (christian, muslim, jewish, hindu, buddhists, etc.) will not care for it at all.
