This simple black bar mobile phone is for those who need a truly easy-to-use, uncomplicated cell phone. Released in 2009, this compact version of the Nokia 1661 mobile cell phone is a perfect traveling companion that allows you to make calls no matter where you are. It supports T-Mobile and other GSM carriers, so you have full network coverage under a prepaid plan that works for you no matter where you go in the U.S.The Nokia T-Mobile device measures about 4.25 inches long by 1.77 inches wide and has a depth of 0.54 inches. As such, the Nokia phone makes a fabulous little travel companion as it does not take up much space. At 2.89 ounces, you do not even remember that you are carrying a cell phone. The 1.8-inch TFT display supports up to 65,000 colors and has a resolution of 128x160 pixels. It has 8 MB of internal memory, which allows you to store up to 500 separate entries in the phone book. When a call comes through, this T-Mobile product alerts you through special polyphonic ringtones that you download or through vibration if you are busy. Its removable Li-ion 860 mAh battery supports up to four hours of talk time and up to 475 hours of standby. The black Nokia T-Mobile 1661 phone also comes with a few other features that make this phone extremely useful to have when out on the road. The call records show the last 20 dialed numbers, the last 20 numbers that were received, and the last 20 calls that were missed. Check your mobile records by simply using the navigation button on the front of the cell phone. The numeric keypad and physical buttons let you get on with your calls as quickly as possible. The Nokia 1661 T-Mobile phone makes it easy to send and receive calls and comes with T9 predictive text entry, which is a plus for people who want to send messages as well.     Good for some things

    Pros: Compact size for a slab phone. Fairly large color display. Good battery life. Lanyard attachment. FM Radio actually works (with headphones). Good sound quality. Good phone reception. Backlighting is OK. Cons: Buttons do not have a good 'feel' and seem cheaply made. Keypad numbers small, would be hard for some people to read. Low-res screen. Nothing is really 'excellent' about this phone, other than the price. It's good for a basic phone as long as you realize that it won't last forever. Also would be good as a backup phone, since you can just swap your SIM card if your fav phone breaks. Or use it when you are worried about losing/smashing your fav phone, like hiking or shooting hoops. I'm not sure why there's a flashlight on this phone, but it's kinda fun to use.

    Great glovebox emergency phone, but not for texters!

    I bought this product as a cellphone to use when I travel to the USA. As I have a prepaid t-mobile sim card, this made perfect sense. The handset itself is very flimsy, and plastic feeling. Having used other bottom-end Nokia phones before, I expected this phone to be a lot more solid than it was. The phone is very irritating in terms of sending text messages as often the characters wont register when typing at speed, so I would try to avoid this phone if you're a big texter. However, that said, the handset would be perfect for to keep in the glovebox of your car for emergency use. It's cheap. Very cheap. It has a flashlight built in to the phone, and it loads up in no time. It also holds its charge like something I've never seen before. In fact, I think when Nokia designed this cell ...

    GREAT PHONE FOR THE PRICE

    This is a very inexpensive phone and can be used with contract T-Mobile sim cards...I did not know this before, but I'm glad I found out! Instead of having to pay $150 for a new basic phone for my boyfriend, or renewing his contract, I was able to buy this phone for less than $20, put his sim card in, and it was all ready to go! They sell these at Walmart for $15 and T-mobile.com for $20...Bought mine on ebay for $16 with shipping..If your phone asks for a security code, the default is 12345...mine locked up the first time I turned it off and on. Love: FM radio feature Flashlight Great color on screen Slim design (it is very small and lightweight!)     A great temp phone for people waiting for a free one

    Bought it because my Nokia 6301 started acting up and I didn't have a free one with my contract for a while. It lacks a lot of common features that I loved about the old one, but it moves quick and does what I want. Although, I get a bunch of 205 text messages that say 205: Message cannot be displayed. Not sure if that's a problem with the phone or what. Either way, if you're looking for a cheap temp phone or backup phone to handle the basics, this is a great option.

    Very simple and easy to use phone for texting and calling.

    I bought this phone because I my main phone broke down, and I was waiting for an other phone to be available in the market. So basically this was an inbetween phone. The phone is very simple to use, I like it. The only thing i dont like about the phone is the buttons, they make this knirking sound every time to press a button. If you want a really simple phone just for texting and calling, this is it - as long s you dont mind the knirking sound it makes every time you press a key. A good phone to have as a spare phone.
