Uniden Tru9485 Digital 5.8 GHz Digital Cordless Phone
I purchased this phone for several reasons. First, it came with four (4) headsets. I have an older home that has only two phone jacks. The base has all the features of the headsets, too, so it is actually like getting five phones that use only one phone line. Second, the base and headsets can be used as room monitors. I was looking for a good baby monitor but they were pricy and did not work well. I have found that this phone system is excellent for use as a room (baby) moitor. It is very clear. The phone will tell you if you travel too far from the base. I like being able to name each headset and call it individually from the base or another headset. This intercom system is fantastic for just talking to a person in another part of the house or transferring a phone call to them. ... I purchased this phone for several reasons. The voice mail can be checked from any of the headsets which is very convenient. I've had this system over a month now and am very pleased with it. In fact, if I had a small business that could afford only one phone line, I would definitely invest in this system because of its many features--two of which are its ability to record conversations and the ability to decide if you want to lock out or allow someone else to pick up on one of the other headsets (or base) while in a call--as well as its intercome feature. The fact that is expandable to ten headsets is great, too. My base is centrally located in my kitchen. Yesterday and I cooking and the babies were sleeping. I took the handset and put it on room monitor so I could hear the babies. A call came in which I was able to answer from the base(speaker phone--which is another feature of all the handsets, too) and still monitor the babies. I don't think you can go wrong for the money.

Awsome Phone
We have had one of these for several years now and it was still going strong. Then we had a little girl who is now 19 months old. She LOVES to play with phones, and ours was dropped one too many times. It still worked well, but it was getting close to the end of its life at our house. When we found we could get a set with 4 handsets at the price we paid for 2 several years ago, we jumped at the chance. We were also considering DECT cordless phones, but since they are more expensive and we have not experienced any interference or range issues we decided to stick with what we knew. And I am glad we did. I love the features the phone offers and if I had to say something negative about it, it would be that the recording length on the answering machine is quite short (but about average ... All in all, the call quality is great, the range is great (especially for a 5.8 GHz cordless phone) and the battery life is awesome. Our old handset can remain off the hook for days (even with use) before needing a recharge. I would definitely recommend this phone to any one, unless you are looking into the DECT ETSI standard for cordless phones. Otherwise, I would say this is one of the best options on the market for non DECT phones.

Good instrument
This handset was a replacement for an old one, some features of which failed. I liked the old one, and this replacement is just as good. I like it better than several other brands I've tried.

First, I would love to say that this is my first Uniden phone I've ever had usually I tend to stick with AT&T or Motorola. But this time I decided to let price and quantity select a phone for me. I love that the phone came with a base and 3 cordless handsets and that the ring tones are customizable. Its very easy to function, my grandmother who is 80 she does not have a problem understanding how to work the intercom system or the page and the answering machine. Its cool how you can check your answering machine messages from your cordless handset. The charge of the phone last a long time I left my phone off the charger for a week and until it died so that is a very good thing. I love the private call feature where you can make your call private so that a member of my household can't ... The top feature is the intercom feature it makes me feel as though I am in a business and someone is being paged. I can be outside on my patio and page someone inside the house. I researched many,many cordless 5.8GHz digital phones before i bought this one last month. Not only is the TRU9485 functional,it is fun.More features than just about anything that is comparable.Even the orange glow of the LCD display can be adjusted to your personal preferance. You can apply different melodies or rings tone to individual phone numbers and just by the ring or melody,you can know who is calling you. Multiple adjustments can be made to the volume on the handset,base unit,and both also have a speaker phone. So one can really make different kinds of settings and adjustments on different features,to suit there personality or needs. Considering all the factors,this is a great cordless telephone/answering machine.
