  • Review of "A Man Named Dave"

This is a well written book about how a young boy suffering at the hands of an abusive mother and negectful father rises above this horror with the determination to win the battle which so many children face today. This is the fourth in a series of books beginning from Dave Pelzer's childhood to adulthood. As an adult, Pelzer reflects on how his determination and resolve helped him to survive and succeed in life. His book is eye-opening and motivational. He admonishes each of us to use that inner strength to overcome life's problems and turn them into challenges to be fought and won. As a social worker and therapist I have found this helpful in my work. I believe that it would be an encouragement to anyone facing life's inevtable challenges.

  • A Must Read For EVERY Parent

A must read for every adoptive/foster parent, abused child out there. Dave Pelzer lived a childhood of absolute horror and came out on the other side with a life of glory and a definite role model to many, many children & young adults. By using his childhood horrors he has been able to touch literally thousands if not millions of children & adults leading many of them to become better people and helping others to recognize signs of abuse and get chldren the help they need before they too lived a childhood in hell.

  • Great end to the Child Called It series!

I was unsure about this one at first, but after the first few words, I was hooked! I had read Pelzer's other books about his life as an abuse victim and in the foster care system, and this book really ties them all up. It was interesting to see what a hold his mother still had on him even as an adult and the struggle it was to understand his adult world. I highly reccomend this read!
