Even city folks are going to have to concede that being a redneck looks like a hell of a lot of fun when Larry the Cable Guy hits the the big screen. He plays a slovenly, rotund Florida health inspector with enemies at the district office but friends in all the restaurants in town. His intensely angry boss (Thomas Wilson) tries to throw a wrench in his works by giving him a by-the-book female partner (Iris Bahr) who Larry thinks is a boy; together they must foil a devilish plot to poison diners at the toniest eateries on his beat. Then he finds love--or a reasonable facsimile therof--in the form of a klutzy local waitress (Megyn Price) with a foulmouthed mother. No doubt about it, Larry knows how to please his audience; bodily humor flows free, and he's got a never ending stream of amusing anecdotes and slang words for every sort of bathroom malady and sexual situation. He's also a genuinely funny performer whose easygoing manner offers a veritable how-to guide for suburban survival and offensive tactics. There's also Joanna Cassidy (BLADE RUNNER) as a restaurant owner and Joe Pantoliano (THE MATRIX, BOUND, SOPRANOS) as the mayor. PC-types should note that Larry freely crosses all lines of taste, including what could be interpreted as slurs against gays, minorities, and the mentally handicapped. However, beneath the gruff comic jabs beats a heartfelt message of compassion and tolerance for all. Plus, Kid Rock pops up in a dream sequence.

Larry Does It Again!
If you've ever seen Larry on tv, you know what type of humor he brings. It's crude, it's inappropriate, but it never goes TOO far. He comes off as a loveable hillbilly misfit with a good heart. We knew what type of humor Larry brings; however we put off watching this movie because we thought that it would be stale or worse, just not funny on the big screen. I'm glad to say that our orignial thoughts were wrong. We were pleasantly surprised with Larry's transition to the big screen. It's one thing to be on a comedy sketch show or stand up tv, it's a different ball game on the big screen. There is a great supporting cast that plays the straight man to Larry. Even when you know where a joke is going, it is still funny. Larry does a great job with his comedic delivery. The laughs ... If you've ever seen Larry on tv, you know what type of humor he brings. A laid-back health inspector's comfortable routine receives an unwelcome shake up when he's assigned the task of training his new rookie partner and investigating the outbreak of a mysterious illness at one of the city's most posh restraints in this no-holds-barred comedy starring Blue Collar stand-up king Larry the Cable Guy. It's all greasy spoons and low-rent ethnic eateries in the world of seasoned big city health inspector Larry (Larry the Cable Guy), and that's just the way he likes it. After begrudgingly accepting the task of training by-the-books trainee Amy (Iris Bahr), Larry lands the biggest case of his career when a group of high-class diners fall ill following a particularly pricy meal. Though the gruff but lovable health inspector soon loses his job as a direct result of his ... Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector
Larry's first movie. Not a block-buster movie by any means, nor worthy of becoming a cult classic. Of course, that was not to be expected for a comedian cross-over movie. Yet I still found the movie entertaining and very consistent/comparable to Larry's stand-up performances. The humor is crass, with sexual references, including the running homosexual gags against his employer and and as related to his false assumption the suit-wearing, small-chested female partner assigned to him is a young man. If you are easily offended, this is not a film for you.Larry's first movie. Not a block-buster movie by any means, nor worthy of becoming a cult classic. I like Donnie hit himself with a soccer ball.
It is very cool. I like he blasted his country music plus he tapped the stool with his left foot to make the rodents come in and everybody was screaming and he put “This establishment is closed to protect public health and safety”.
