This well-loved, Oscar-nominated piece of pop art trumpets the timeless virtues of classic Americana represented by small towns, Route 66, and cars. Pixar founder John Lasseter serves as both writer and director of "Cars," his company's seventh animated feature. It's about a cocky but charming race car named Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) who travels west for a showdown. Along the way he finds himself stranded in a small desert town where he learns to appreciate the slower, simpler values of middle America. This Blu-ray disc captures many details, such as car stickers and headlights, vividly in 1080p. Sound quality is excellent in 5.1 Dolby Digital and racing scenes use both surround sound and LFE. Viewers can hear the unmistakable voices of the other main characters: Paul Newman, Cheech Marin, Bonnie Hunt, and Larry the Cable Guy. This Blu-ray disc includes extras like commentaries by Lasseter and the production team, deleted scenes, cartoon featurettes, and a cool feature called Cine-Explore which allows viewers to see production factoids while watching the movie. However, the most enlightening extras are the documentary shorts that describe the extensive source material behind making this movie a true car-lover's piece. Viewers learn, for instance, about the contributions of many NASCAR drivers as consultants and even voices for the 117-minute animated movie. With its extensive soundscapes and Pixar animation, "Cars" is the kind of movie best suited to Blu-ray.

    This Is An Amazing Deal.. At First I Was Thinking That The Movie Would Come Alone Without The Case Because Of The Price.. But It Came With A Clean Case And A Clean Disc.. Would Definitely Recommend Buying This.. It's A Great Film For All Ages

    Comparison of Cars Blu-ray and standard DVD

    I recently purchased a Blu-ray player and the choice of the first movie to buy in this new format was obvious. "Cars" is my five-year-old son's favorite movie, and the DVD we had was scratched which caused the first few chapters to skip. I previously had a Samsung 1080p upconverter DVD player (plugged into my 1080p HDTV set), and I thought the standard DVD edition of the movie was great. But when I saw the Blu-ray edition, I was really amazed. The first scenes of the movie show the main character, Lightning McQueen, racing in the Piston Cup. On the Blu-ray edition, we could make out more of the small individual stickers on the race cars (which I was able to confirm by doing a side-by-side comparison against my upconverting DVD player).     Cars - Blu-Ray Disc

    Cars is a great life lesson about getting too big for ones britches and realizing that living for yourself can leave you pretty empty inside. It's about thinking of others first and using the gifts you have to the best of your ability, no matter how insignificant they might seem. Everybody makes a difference! This Blu-Ray version is amazing! The picture quality is astoundingly 3-dimensional and the sound quality will blow you to the back of your sofa! If you haven't seen Cars on Blu-Ray disc, you've only watched it, not experienced it.

    Greatest Blu-ray transfer to date? Look no further!

    The HD version of Disney's Cars is absolutely flawless. I'm not usually big on animated movies, but after seeing this on a commercial on an hi def station, I took a chance and of course purchased from Ebay to save some money. I have to say that I saved my first animated blu-ray purchase for the right movie! If you watch the special features, you'll see the huge amount of detail that went into making the movie. Recruiting real nascar stars from on and off the track to use as consultants and even as voice talent. I would greatly recommend this movie for racing fans, Disney fans, and those that just love a great looking hi-def picture to show off that new tv. This is the showcase film to do it!
