An amazing instrument with great capabilities in a small package - yet the price is quite reasonable!
I am the happy owner of a new Nikon S6900 digital point and shoot camera. Altho this model came out in 2014, I just learned about it recently. My previous camera of this P/S type eats batteries even when turned off, so I had to get something to replace it, but didn't expect all the new features and capabilities now available. The main thing I wanted was an articulated LCD screen, so I could more easily escape glare outdoors and hold the camera above my head at weddings and events, so I could actually see what I was shooting (by adjusting the screen angle) at those times. The camera also has a very neat "kick stand" so you can set the camera down on a table or a log and get a very nice "selfie," especially when you turn the flip screen around, so you can actually see yourself as you ... Then when you add up some of the many features you get with this little miracle, it is an amazing value - especially when you get it at a killer price point on eBay! I have large hands, so an additional benefit of the flip screen is that you have more to hang onto when you are shooting. The camera comes with 16 MP and a 12:1 very sharp zoom lens ( the zoom range 35 mm equivalent is about 25mm to 300 mm!! - according to technical reviews I have read). You may find as I did that this little marvel has so much capability, you may find yourself leaving your DSLR home more often, since this will do most of what the DSLR will do. The built-in flash has varied useful settings as well. The camera features are primarily controlled by tapping or moving your finger on the LCD screen - this is a little tricky at first, so I recommend quite a bit of practicing with these controls and features to learn where the icons will appear and how fast you have to look at them and quickly touch them before they change on your screen. (If you have an IPhone or other super phone, you will have a head start on this. ) Also you need to learn how much pressure to apply to the icon or the screen. Once you become more accustomed to this, it becomes easier and it is set up quite well. I wish it had a little more override capabilities on exposure and shutter speeds, but you can't have everything and still be able to buy this at such a great bargain price. And be sure to turn the novel (but useless) touchscreen shutter release off!! or you will find the shutter constantly going off with almost every step and you will wind up with many unwanted useless images! The basic owners guide was quite a disappointment for me - the type is way too small and the info is way too sketchy, but hopefully I will learn more on line, and when I print out the CD data that came with it. The YouTube tutorials that I found on line were also poorly done and too sketchy for a camera that has so many features. Nikon - you need a massive improvement in your tiny, inadequate owner's manuals - and you should know better. But I sill highly recommend this fun, classy and highly capable, amazing camera. It's a great bargain!

Small light, easy to carry
First, the two anti movement features DO NOT eliminate need for a tripod. I mostly shoot items for eBay and web sales. I Shoot from very close up to about 10' away and without a tripod the photos are blurred, possibly more so than with my Nikon D50. Next, with my D50 it is simple to transfer my pix to any photo shop program or site. This one requires more steps

I'm extremely pleased with the Nikon coolpix. The first camera I've bought and I really like it. It's very easy to use, really simple and it's easy to carry around

Nikon Coolpix S6900 - refurbished
I really like this camera. It's very easy to use and the image quality is excellent. The view screen can be opened (as with a traditional video camera) or rotated so that it lays against the back like most other digital cameras. You can also rotate the image view screen so that it can be seen from the front when taking selfies. There are two shutter release buttons - one on top right where you would expect it to be and one on the front, making it easier to take selfies. The camera is light weight and easy to focus. It has many programmed features making this one of the simplest cameras to use. I would recommend this camera for someone who wants to take fun pictures while on the go. It's a great camera, not exactly a starter camera, but maybe a second level camera for someone ... I really like this camera. It's very easy to use and the image quality is excellent. The bundle that came with the camera is good, the extra battery is especially nice to have on hand. The tripod is very lightweight and very compact. The screen protector sheets are handy. I applied one right away - why spend all that money only to have the screen get scratched and ruined? The touch screen works just fine with the screen protector applied, and it can be removed with no effort. The image recovery software is good to have in case of any lost pictures due to accidental deletions. All in all I am very happy with this purchase, it's a good camera and the bundle made it an even better value.

Not too shabby.
I like the camera. However, the video quality is similar to an iPhone video. In terms of photography, I haven’t taken advantage of picture quality. Nonetheless, I believe this is a great camera for recording videos or shooting pictures. Especially if you learn to play around with your camera settings.
