Portrays Holly as regular, hardworking type who struggles with peers and the music industry before he makes it big with the huge hit "That'll Be The Day." Also details the final events leading up to the plane crash, en route to Minnesota in a snow storm on February 3, 1959, which also claimed the lives of Richie Valens and the Big Bopper.

Fantastic Music - Great American Talent - BUSEY
The most addictive movie I have ever seen. You can watch this movie again and again and again and never get tired of it. The soundtrack is wonderful, the story line is captive and there has never been an actor born of a roll as Gary Busey was for The Buddy Holly Story. Busey plays the role so well you will be heartbroken at the end of the movie. Long live Buddy Holly, the legend - Long live Busey - the man that brought Buddy back to life.The most addictive movie I have ever seen. You can watch this movie again and again and again and never get tired of it. The soundtrack is wonderful, the story line is captive and there has never been an actor born of a roll as Gary Busey was for The Buddy Holly Story. the Buddy Holly story...Hollywood version..
I have enjoyed watching this movie upon a number of occasions, and finally got around to buying a dvd for my collection of music movies...the movie isnt accurate but it has enough of the story line to give the average person some insight into the character of one of rock and rolls great early talents. Gary does a convincing job creating a persona that is both endearing and insightful...some of his striding around on stage seems a bit insect like but it adds some levity to the performances.....for people interested in a deeper understanding of Buddy Holly beyond this enjoyable and entertaining movie I suggest the tribute Paul MacCartney narrated....and contributed to.I have enjoyed watching this movie upon a number of occasions, and finally got around to buying a dvd for my collection of music movies...the movie isnt accurate but it has enough of the story line to give the average person some insight into the character of one of rock and rolls great early talents. The Buddy Holly Story
Gary Busey does an amazing, awesome, terrific job playing Buddy Holly. I so admire stars who do their own singing. I'm not sure I could tell the difference between the two. I hate the closer it gets to the ending, I can barely watch! If you haven't seen this movie......DO SO!

Buddy Holly Story
Great movie about the short life and times of a great rock-n-roll singer. Gary Busey did a wonderful job portraying Buddy. We've lost alot of great intertainers, and their life stories are very interesting. Buddy,Richie and the "Big Bopper" were so much on their way to greatness when tradgedy struck. I just read the book, "Whatever happened to Peggy Sue" and it "completes" this movie. It's just a great movie about a great singer and an all too soon end. Watch it, it will intertain you..and the music will make you get up and dance.Great movie about the short life and times of a great rock-n-roll singer.
