Ancient magics combine with feral logic to culminate in Brom's The Child Thief. A retelling of Peter Pan spanning America's earliest, magically rich beginnings to today's bare whispers of belief. Synopsis
The acclaimed artist Brom brilliantly displays his multiple extraordinary talents in The Child Thief --a spellbinding re-imagining of the beloved Peter Pan story that carries readers through the perilous mist separating our world from the realm of Faerie. As Gregory Maguire did with his New York Times bestselling Wicked novels, Brom takes a classic children's tale and turns it inside-out, painting a Neverland that, like Maguire's Oz, is darker, richer, more complex than innocent world J.M. Barrie originally conceived. An ingeniously executed literary feat, illustrated with Brom's sumptuous artwork, The Child Thief is contemporary fantasy at its finest--casting Peter Pan, the Lost Boys, even Captain Hook and his crew in a breathtaking new light., The acclaimed artist Brom brilliantly displays his multiple extraordinary talents in The Child Thief--a spellbinding re-imagining of the beloved Peter Pan story that carries readers through the perilous mist separating our world from the realm of Faerie. • Peter Pan didn't grow up, but his story did.

This book is a great! It's a darker retelling of the Peter Pan story. The author does a great job with the mood of the book and puts a great twist on a classic story. It's also sprinkled with amazing art done by Brom, the author. The art is really good. The vendor I bought this from was great as well, they shipped it very quickly and the book was in fantastic shape.

  • A new Brom's fan

I really liked the story and the art work in the book. Brom doesn't give you the Walt Disney happy coorized version of Peter Pan. No. Here is Peter's story in black and white, with all the horror's that were on the island. The island is not as bad as you may think it's far worse. If you liked "Lord of the Flies" then your in for a treat. I found myself not liking the ending. Not how it was written per say, but who lives and who dies. But Brom has written so well, that I truly fell for a character. And that dear reader, makes for a good Author. You must read the Author's notes to truly appreciate where this novel evolved from.

  • A great read, compelling, clever, and witty

A colorful modern take on a great classic. Brom takes his art to a whole another level in this book; not only are the illustrations stunning but the actual story itself is just beyond words. One of the best Novels I have ever read! The book takes an extremely different approach to the watered down Disney version most of us know today. This book is indeed violent, but a wonderfully witty and clever adaptation of the Peter Pan classic. It makes one think outside the well known version and ask questions like why did Peter want so desperately to “not become a man?” Why did he need to steal away children? And why so offend? A great read all the way through. A truly compelling complex re-imagined masterpiece.
