A nice set for Larry Bird fans! Includes his three greatest games!
This is a pretty good set for Larry bird fans and fans of great basketball period. Included in the set are two discs that feature a documentary on Larry Bird from his youth to his Hall of Fame career in the NBA to the real meat of the package: his three greatest games. You get his career high 60 point game vs the Atlanta Hawks and Dominique Wilkins. It was supposed to be a neutral crowd, but this game was played in Hawks territory and by the end of the game they were cheering Larry on to score more points and his teammates were feeding him to beat the Celtics record that teammate Kevin McHale had set not long ago with 56. 5-22-1988 You also get the 1988 Eastern Conference Semifinal duel with Dominique Wilkins where they went shot for shot in the 4th quarter. Larry scores 34 with 4 ... This is a pretty good set for Larry bird fans and fans of great basketball period. Dominique fans will want to pick this one up as this is his only game on DVD (The price is reasonable as I got my copy for 12.58 and I've see them even lower on Amazon more recently for about $11 shipping included) and he scores 47 in his best ever playoff performance. The reason why I docked this set a star is because this game is a NBATV greatest games rip (There is no excuse for this as I'm sure they had the original footage) rather than the original broadcast. With those you don't usually get all the action, but rather there are parts of quarters and shots missing, as well as replays. Finally you get a real another real classic game with Larry Bird dropping an amazing triple double (49 pts, 14 rebs and 12 asts) in what arguably could be the greatest performance of legendary career. What made this game so amazing was that Larry was just a couple months from playing his last NBA and was headed for retirement. He was limited by injuries and it's an understatement to say that his following games would come nowhere near this although he had a few good ones left. This is arguably a top five triple double game and by a player who was hobbled by severe injuries just goes to show Larry's greatness. The game was awesome in of itself as it was a double ot thriller and featured a near triple double by Clyde Drexler who was almost as magnificent with 41 pts, 8 rebs and 11 asts. Drexler fans should pick this up as this is his best game on DVD and probably the only other one besides game 1 of the 1992 Finals vs the Bulls. This is a nice set, however I would have paid a little more to get some more games. Licensed NBA sets like the Dynasty series (Los Angeles and Boston for example) and the Ulitmate Jordan package have been on double sided dvds. While I'm not a fan of that format, I would have rather had 2 double sided discs with more games included on the other sides. For example Larry had some 40+ point games in college. Those would have been nice to see as well as any other classics of his that were available. For example on 2-15-1988 Larry had 49 pts 12 rebs and 7 asts at Phoenix as the Celtics won by a point. That would have been nice to see. They maybe could have even expanded the set to 3 or 4 discs to fit as many great games of Larry's on as possible. I hope someday games like this will be on Itunes, but until then this is a good set to have and well worth the affordable price.

We had the VHS version which was going bad. The quality of the DVD and the additional games were exceptional

Best Ever !!!!!!
Larry Bird is my alltime favorite player. Great to have these dvds on my 75 inch tv to kick back and watch the games GREATEST player. It dont get any better than this !!!!!

This a good DVD to watch regardless if you a fan of the Celtics and especially Bird. What they show about Bird is the championship drive he had during his career. One of the greats.
