VERY COOL, With a Few Minor Setbacks.
This is a VERY cool handheld. It's relatively easy to use, and the games (so far), though limited in release at this time, are lots of fun to play, if you can handle the 3D style, which I have found out from some of my friends, is not for everyone. Also, the field in which you can experience the effect is quite narrow and only allows for one person at a time to actually see the 3D, which makes showing it off hard to accomplish. I do like the ability to take 3D pictures and the step counter that rewards you for getting out and walking is cool, too. I personally LOVED one thing in particular-they brought "Mii"s to the DS! It's too bad there is no way to make it work on the old ones somehow, but I always loved that aspect of the Wii system. You can also go to the Nintendo shop and buy some ... This is cool. especially since I was able to get nostalgic by playing Super Mario Land, Alleyway, and Zelda (keep the classics coming, guys!). The other titles are okay, but some of the prices for better games are a little steep for a download (from $5 to $14 bucks), even if it IS a more "rare" game. You can also download movie trailers and game previews in 3D, which is pretty neat, but you would most likely want to delete after watching since you don't want to gunk up your SD card. Another great feature is the improved METAL stylus, which looks less cheap and performs better than its predecessors. The price (for now) is pretty steep at $250 with no extras except a few cheaply designed built-in games. The battery life could be a little better, too. Overall, I am not at all disappointed, but it DOES slightly miss the mark in relatively minor places. I would advise waiting for it to drop in price in a few months, especially since the 3DS game selection is a bit thin at the moment.

Pretty good system!! Not THE ABSOLUTE BEST, but certainly worth your time.
I enjoy the upgrade from the original Nintendo DS: For example, the integration of apps, better online capabilities, camera/video, the circle pad, and the overall refinement from the original DS. It is truly a great evolution in Nintendo's handheld genre. The AR games in particular are very intriguing and fun to play. Watching my house in the background, my table, etc. is crazy cool!! The selection of games are pretty good. There are the standard flagship Nintendo games like Pokemon and Mario, all solid games. As far as it being the best handheld console?..... Eh, not quite there. The game library could be better and bigger (compared to that of the PSP/PS Vita). The camera is of a very low quality, however it is still impressive for this console. Also, I personally have not been a ... It is initially quite impressive that a handheld device can produce 3D video images without the need of glasses. There are some flaws here, though. It uses the biparallax technology, meaning it takes advantage of the fact that your eyes are far apart, and produces images selective to each eye. This means that you can only hold it a certain way to get the 3D effect. And let's be honest here, 3D technology just looks weird anyway; 3D movies, etc. all look weird. The battery life is the next biggest issue. It's something like up to 8 hours maximum, with all extraneous capabilities turned off (wireless, 3D, brightness, etc.). It's around 3 hours with all that stuff on. It's not the end of the world. We oftentimes have to keep our wireless technology plugged in anyway. So it's not THAT big of a deal. Overall, it's a solid upgrade in Nintendo's handheld line. It's built like a beast, and it's pretty cool. 4/5.

BEST PORTABLE GAMING SYSTEM ON THE MARKET
Recently purchased this item as I was looking for a fun portable game system. I had tried the PS Vita, but was left unimpressed. Positives: 1) The 3DS is pretty much the same size and weight as the DSi. 2) One of the best features of this model is the addition of the analog thumpad which really helps in 3D games. 3) Very bright 3.5" screen 4) Comes with retractable Stylus. 5) Adjustable 3D Effect (Adjust the lens so if you are holding the DS closer/further away from you the picture still will come in clear) 6) 3 Cameras 7) Built-in WiFi Negatives: 1) Cannot play Gameboy Advance Games. 2) Only About 4 1/2 hours of battery life. 3) Only has 2 GB Storage on SD. 4) Picture quality is average at best. Fun 3D, Compelling game library, Decent battery life,Superb value.
Amazing product. The 3DS is not some gimmicky device for easily- impressed kids. The titles are tons of fun, controls are easy to use and the overall experience remind you what gaming is supposed to feel like in a smartphone dominated era. The 3D works like a charm, and is quite impressive. Having to look at the console at a steady angle can prove a little annoying, especially while playing a game like Mario Kart 7, but the visual experience is worth it. It can make your eyes feel tired after about 45 min or so. During which time you can turn the 3D off using the physical 3D level. Knowing Nintendo, I think its safe to say they are going to improve 3D functionality in a future iteration of the 3ds. Battery life is not like the earlier DS's. While not disappointing in itself, it can be if you are expecting the performance of the non 3d DS. The design is not as bulky as alot of people contend. If you don't mind the size of the DS Lite, then this is not bulky at all. It's a little thicker on the 3D screen lid, but it's almost negligible. I have the DSi and the DS lite,and side-by-side, these things are almsot indistinguishable.

Fantastic!
I bought this for my eight year old who had been using his older brother's 3DS. It works great, looks brand new, and the Pokémon games are already a hit!
