Product Information

In an effort to appeal to all types of gamers, Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning is designed to be a new experience that shows a darker side of the cuddly purple dragon. With an attack system designed to make use of four elements (earth, fire, ice, and electricity), Spyro can now abandon his patented head-butt assault and chain together 12 different attacks for nearly irresistible destruction. Players can upgrade the elemental assaults over the course of the game, and use the "Fury" attack to clear enemies from a large area. The gems that were currency in the last few games can now be used to recharge life, breath, and the "Fury" gauge. Different enemies are more vulnerable to certain attacks, while they brush off others as mere annoyances. For example, a lava monster won't mind a fiery attack as much as a shot of ice in the eye. Sparx, Spyro's dragonfly companion, takes a more involved role in A New Beginning, and a handful of Hollywood actors voice characters in the game.

    More enjoyable than I expected

    This was given to me as a Christmas gift by someone who didn't know what I would like. Had I seen this title on the shelf I probably would not have purchased it for myself. That being said, I have enjoyed this game a LOT more than I expected to. It's a good balance between being challenging enough not to bore me and easy enough not to frustrate me, a person who is not used to playing this type of game. The story is short but cute (I don't know how it compares to other Spyro games), and the animation is reasonably good - not the best I've seen, but definitely not the worst, either. The game also requires you to use the stylus a little bit, which is nice when you think that so many of the DS games don't really need the stylus at all.

    Spyro

    While it is worth what I paid it is a very unsatisfactory game. If you like me buy this thinking it'll be even half similar to the same game but on the GameCube. You will be disappointed. As of now this is one of the few truly disappointing Spyro titles that I've played, I don't recommend purchasing it.

    Great Game

    Got this dame for my 8 yr old daughter, she has been playing spyro on the playstation for a while and enjoyed it. She seems to like the game but the graphics are very pointy and sharp and sometimes hard to follow when spyro went. There is some challange to the game, usually it can beat them right away but this one she is still working on so I am getting my moneys worth. It is a cute game and I guess it helps if you know Spyro already. I would have baught it again. Recommened! 4****

    Really fun!

    i love it, it looks a lot like the play station game, and it has really good graphics and its not like the other ones, it has a full screen play not just the straight Mario path, its also pretty challenging! really recommend it. :D

    Good But Not Great

    it was hard to fit this type of game on such a small screen. they did a great job but being able to actually see the dragon and what your killing is nice on a bigger screen. good game play and a challenging game at times. had a nice rpg feel to it.
