"The Commish: The Complete Series" comes in a 17-disc set of DVDs. This police drama stars Michael Chiklis as the main character, Tony Scali, who started out in the New York City streets and has worked his way up to be the police commissioner of a small town. He uses his street smarts to solve a variety of cases, including political crimes, sex crimes, and murders. The solutions often require a lot of creativity. The police drama "The Commish: The Complete Series" has all 94 episodes complete without commercials. The episodes each run for approximately 45 minutes. This 17-disc set comes with many extras, such as outtakes, cast and crew commentaries, and deleted scenes. The regular cast of "The Commish: The Complete Series" includes Kaj-Erik Eriksen, Theresa Saldana, and Melinda McGraw. This TV police drama was created by Stephen J. Cannell and Stephen Kronish. This series was filmed mainly in Canada but aired in Canada and the United States.

The Commish is still a great show, even today!!!!
Great TV show that is actually based on a real Police Commissioner who's nickname actually was The Commish. Show is different from the usual cops and robbers type show, in that, the Commissioner takes a somewhat different view of how to deal with people and the situations that they find themselves in. In a footnote, CBS was presented "The Commish" pilot script, but was unable to agree with the producers of the show on who would play the leading role. The producers wanted Micheal Chiklis (who resembled the real Commish) and CBS wanted someone who was more tall, thin, and macho. So the deal fell through. About a year and a half later they pitched the idea to ABC who loved both the script and Micheal Chiklis. Five seasons of success proved the producers were right to stick to their original ... Stephen J Cannell's hidden gem
Stephen J Cannell is the man behind American 80's great cheesy shows, most famously The A-Team. You must remember the man who threw the sheet of paper from his typewriter at the end of each episode, it floated threw the air and took the shape of a letter 'C'. The Commish is from the early 90's. It is about a police commissioner in a small suburban town and is based on a real person. It's lightweight compared to shows like CSI and Hill Street Blues and even Cagney & Lacey, but it has characters that you want to get behind and some decent storylines. It was shown in the UK on Sky One. All 5 series, but then it was never repeated which I have always wondered about. Not even on Bravo or FX. GREAT TV SERIES WITH INTERESTING STORIES ABOUT A POLICE CRIME COMMISSIONER & HIS JEWISH FAMILY
IT HAS MULTIPLY STORIES IN EACH EPISODE, WITH JUST ENOUGH ACTION TO KEEP YOU INTERESTED, BUT PARENTS ARE SOME WHAT NAIVE ABOUT HOW TO BRING UP THEIR CHILDREN, SINCE THEY GIVE LOTS OF LOVE, BUT PROVIDE LITTLE SUPERVISION ON WHAT IS RIGHT/WRONG, HOW TO DEAL WITH LIFE SITUATIONS, AND THEY ARE REACTIONARY AND NOT PROACTIVE TYPE PARENTS.

This is what my husband chose for his birthday. I never saw the show that much but now watching it with him, I really enjoy it also! Great birthday gift and show!
