A landmark in film history, EASY RIDER blew the studio doors open for more young directors than any film before or since, helping to create the wide-open climate that would lead to the production of many outstanding films in the 1970s. As its director, Dennis Hopper is usually given the lion's share of credit for the film's success, but the revelations of time suggest that the contributions of the late Terry Southern and, to some degree, Jack Nicholson have endowed the film with much of its residual power. Starring Peter Fonda as Wyatt (alias Captain America) and Hopper as Billy, it traces the hippie duo's adventures as they mount their seriously chopped hogs on a journey to find the real America en route to Mardi Gras. In Arizona, they visit a commune whose members are having a tough time, and in a small Texas town they're jailed for joining a parade. But they're quickly sprung by an ACLU lawyer, the quirky, hard-drinking George Hanson (Jack Nicholson), who accepts their offer to join them on the trip to New Orleans, eager to visit the best whorehouse in the South. EASY RIDER accurately reflects the tensions and hostilities of the period, Laszlo Kovacs's photography is superb, Nicholson is exceptional in his breakthrough role--and the startling, stunning ending is a shocker.

MUST SEE!!!
I was born only months before Easy Rider was released in theaters. I've always had a fascination with the 1960's counter-culture and the music from that era has strongly influenced my own musical compositions. Curiously, it wasn't until 2009 that I finally sat down to watch Easy Rider. In this day and age, many people are too busy to think about life as a whole and are programmed by society to such an extent that they could not begin to reach deep within themselves for a higher understanding. This movie would likely bore such people. This movie represents the very definition of true freedom, as well as the cost of enjoying said freedom at the hands of those who are too frightened of the responsibility that comes with it. I find it sad that a large percentage of those who understood true ... I was born only months before Easy Rider was released in theaters. It includes A Music Soundtrack Disc as part of the package as well as A Short Book on the Film and some History about the times. The Film is a must see for anyone who Lived or wanted to Live in A Different Time. The Behind the Scenes Making of The Film is Excellent. It gives you the Reason for the Film as well as how and why it unfolded the way it did. There are alot of "In Front" and "Behind" Attitudes of America in the Sixties. The Story of Two Guys on Iron Horses, out to Discover America and What Makes Us Different From the Rest of the World, only to Discover that maybe we are not really Different as a Nation. Too bad easy riding in those days didn't mean easy living too or Wyatt & Billy would've had life by the balls.
Everything was in very good to mint condition. I didn't' realize the bonus cd & book was part of the package so I was very happy to see those. What a deal.

THE OPENNESS OF THIS STORY SHOWS HOW THE PEOPLE OF THE VARIOUS REGIONS OF THIS COUNTRY NEED TO CHANGE THEIR MIND SET TO THE VARIOUS GROUPS AND IDEAS OF WHAT THIS COUNTRY IS BASED ON. PEOPLE ARE DIFFERENT AND THINKING IS DIFFERENT BUT WE SHOULD BE TOLERANT OF ALL. I KNOW THIS FIRST HAND FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCES OF THE 70'S FOR BEING DIFFERENT THAN WHAT PEOPLE AROUND ME THOUGHT WHAT I SHOULD BE. THE PERSECUTION FOR BEING OUT OF NORMAL FOR THE TIME WAS TERRIBLE.
