Based on the novel by Herman Wouk, this Emmy Award-winning miniseries continues the sweeping saga that began with 1983's THE WINDS OF WAR. This sequel opens one week following the bombing of Pearl Harbor and recreates the events of World War II. The actions of real historical figures, such as Adolph Hitler and Theodore Roosevelt, are intertwined with those of fictional characters who are drawn into the war. Robert Mitchum stars as Victory Henry, commander of the U.S.S. Northampton, whose family has been drawn into the conflict: sons Warren (Michael Woods) and Byron (Hart Bochner) are both in military uniform, while Byron's Jewish wife, Natalie Jastrow (Jane Seymour), is caught in war-torn Europe with their infant son. Meanwhile, the stories of Natalie's imperiled family--Dr. Aaron Jastrow (John Houseman) in Germany and Aaron Jastrow (Topol) in the Soviet Union--offer a wider perspective of the war as well as the Holocaust. Equal parts action, romance, and tragedy, WAR AND REMEMBRANCE was one of the biggest television productions of its time, with a budget of 120 million dollars and a running time of over 25 hours. This volume presents the concluding five parts of the epic miniseries.

An accurate and interesting portrayal of World War II
I bought the entire series of Winds of War and War and Remembrance. I remembered seeing parts of it when it was televised in the 1980's and now wanted to see the entire series. It details the events leading up to and through the World War II era, while intertwining a storyline of an American Naval family. Aside from being a fascinating history lesson, it's also a fine example of extraordinary filmmaking. Though it is history, it's recent history, and a part of our history that should always be remembered. Those who fail to learn from history are destined to repeat it.I bought the entire series of Winds of War and War and Remembrance. Arrived in good condition
This, The Final Chapter, is the last six discs of the Mini-series. As with, "Winds Of War" and the first part of, "War and Remembrance" this last part, is the completion of a compelling story that I will enjoy watching again and again. It has a satisfactory ending and it is well worth watching for the person who enjoys period pieces.

A must have in your library. We can never afford to forget!
I first watched this on t.v. when it aired. In my opinion there has never been or has to date been a series or movie that takes you through all aspects of WWII. You must watch this in reverence of the horror of the terrible plight of the Jewish race. It is one thing to read about it in the history books and to see the black and white newsreels that captured bits and pieces of what happened "over there". It is quite another to immerse yourself into the lives of these characters spanning the entirety of the great war...the journey of the Jewish characters. We must never forget, but always remember! War and Remembrance 2
After buying and viewing Winds of War, I wanted to continue by getting War and Remembrance 2. War and Remembrance is very well done and more dramatic than Winds of War; understandable considering the subject. I feel the performances by Hart Bochner (Byron Henry) and Jane Seymour (Natilie Jastrow) were better and more accurate to the book (to me) than that of Jan-Michael Vincent and Ali McGraw in the same roles. If you liked Winds of War, you'll like this one, too.After buying and viewing Winds of War, I wanted to continue by getting War and Remembrance 2. Magnificent, an important story to never forget.
Product did arrive as described - thank you. We have been wanting to re-watch this series since it aired in the 1980's. It was even better than we remembered- epic in scope and detail. Probably 1 of the top 2 best TV mini series ever produced. We really wanted to watch this during the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII. I can not believe it hasn't been re-run on TV since.
