Great Game... NFS Carbon
After rebooting the franchise with Need for Speed Underground, EA has continued to produce some solid street racers under the Need for Speed banner. Last year's Need for Speed Most Wanted, which featured hilariously over-the-top live-action cutscenes and seriously tense police pursuits, proved to be a high watermark for the franchise. Now it's being followed up by Need for Speed Carbon, which downplays the role of the police chases, introduces some simple team-racing mechanics, and occasionally takes the action off the city streets and into the outlying canyons. The new gameplay doesn't always improve the experience, but the racing can still be quite intense and still has a pronounced sense of style. Carbon continues the story where Most Wanted left off. For those just tuning in, Most Wanted ended with you recovering your stolen car and bailing out of the city of Rockport while the overzealous, anti-street-racing Sgt. Cross continued his pursuit. At the start of Carbon, you're making your way to Palmont City when Cross, now a bounty hunter, catches up with you and totals your car during the chase. Before he can collect his bounty on you, though, your old friend Darius steps in and pays off Cross. You are then put to work, taking over the turf of the other rival street-racing crews in Palmont City. It seems that you've got a history in this town that predates the events in Most Wanted. And during the course of the game, you'll learn more about that fateful night you skipped town. Different characters will give their takes on the night you supposedly ran off with a big red duffle bag full of cash. And by the end of the game, you'll not only find out what really happened, but you'll have taken over all of the street-racing territory in Palmont City. Outside of the actual gameplay, one of the more endearing aspects of Most Wanted was the way it used live actors in CG environments for its story sequences. These sequences invariably featured plenty of actor/model types, trying a little too hard to talk tough and failing spectacularly at it. The technique remains the same in Carbon, though there are more story sequences now and a slightly more self-aware tone. The heavy use of flashbacks is an interesting idea, but the story ends up being kind of muddled. And none of the villains come off as particularly menacing. Although it's hard to really qualify any of it as sincerely good, it's just over-the-top enough that folks who enjoy stuff like The Fast and the Furious, ironically or otherwise, should get some enjoyment out of it. Most Wanted had you racing to raise your visibility with the police and take on the most notorious street racers in Rockport. In Carbon, it's all about turf. Palmont City is divided into four major territories, each of which is predominantly controlled by a different street-racing crew. Each territory is then further divided into zones, and within each zone, you'll find starting points for a variety of different race events. Winning at least two events in a zone will put it under your control. And once you've taken over all the zones in a given territory, you can take on the head of that crew. As you continue to extend your reach across Palmont City, rival crews will come back and try to retake territory the same way you took it from them, forcing you to accept their challenge if you want to maintain control. Carbon as well know is 10th in the series and how the number 10 is a round sum he thought it would be an exceptional game. The first step that made me say that carbon will be played was that .... is the night! all I wanted after a day on the most wanted is night! The bad thing: No neon! Why EA? Well get over it skipping arcade as it otherwise would not have sense: D and find out that there is Milestones events, ah good. But even so the gameplay takes approximately 5 hours , you just get the game and immediately got 100% career completion. oh no: (. I do not have anything to reproach than the canyon duels are stupid you can not use NOS in them and see how you lose everything after flying from the mountain, that ruined the whole game! Best Racing Game Ever! (Almost) 6/10
I think this is by far the best game I have ever played. This game is for car lovers. If I had played this game beforehand, I would have paid up to $120 for this game (if it was the only one I could buy from anywhere). Logically, that is an unreasonable price, but I am just making a point. I will give a much more detailed description later; it is currently 3AM on Saturday and I want some sleep. Continued review: on 3/21/2009: I finally figured out how to edit this! I found out by accident. ___ Okay so this game makes you feel like you are going 200mph when it says you're only going like 100, and that's pretty sweet. I disabled the music because I do not like the background music. The game is very competitive, and you have to do the same races like a million times before you can win, ... That makes it more difficult, and has made me put the game down for a few weeks at a time because I'll get discouraged. Also there are drift tracks, which are pretty much impossible to get good at if you have a life. I have a life and I still have not gotten first place on one of the drift races yet. I also tend to be good a t video games, so that means the drift races are VERY difficult. There are limited cheat codes, but there ARE cheat codes available. I like cheat codes when I want to just have fun and mess around on the game for entertainment rather than for competition. I will also list all the cheat codes at the end of this listing. Trust me, there are NO MORE cheat codes than the ones I list. Also, there is NO cheat code for unlimited money, which I do not like. I have unlimited money on Gran Turismo A-Spec and that's the only reason I play - so I can just have fun racing my favorite cars. However, there is a ONE-TIME use code for $10,000. Similar to the cheats in GTA Vice City, the codes go away when you reset the game or when you turn off the console. I think it's cool that you can change the look and style of your car. However, you cannot actually use the car that you create for free in the other mode. I was mad about that, because I spent a lot of time making a car, and then I realized I could only look at it and could never use it. I just wanted to do the Free Roam with it, but it does not allow you to. Here is the biggest problem I have with this game: FREEZES! Made me so mad. Once you get to a race and it freezes, the game never lets you get past that point in the game unless you create an entire new profile and start over. Now, if you do not ever put in cheat codes, you might not have this problem, but no guarantees. After I Googled the problem, I found that many people have had this problem. As far as I know, it is caused by putting in cheat codes, but no one really knows. It is generally a glitchy game. It looks awesome and plays awesome, but the glitches really take the quality of the game down. The developers should have spent a lot more time fixing all the bugs before releasing this game. In this respect, the game is somewhat unfinished. Overall, this is an awesome game that is worth playing all the way through. It offers a lot of However, do not expect to get far in the game if you use cheat codes, because the game is very glitchy and will freeze at some point or another and then every time you try to go where it froze, it will freeze again, no matter how many times you reset your console. A game with good ideas... but thats just it.
Need for Speed Carbon Brings you back into the street racing world in yet another confusing way. Not that racing games need storylines or anything. This installment of Need for Speed offers new ways to customize your ride however you wand, more or less. With the new Autosculpt feature, you can tune the look of hoods, bumpers, spoilers, and just abought every other replaceable part. Another interesting bit is the free placement of decaling. While this is incredibly cool, its also incredibly frustrating. It may take DAYS to get your car to look just right. Personally, It would have been beneficial to have optional FIXED layouts for decaling for the less artistic among us. Unfortunately, all decaling is free place... So once you made your ride look like an add for some show on TV, its time to ... Need for Speed Carbon Brings you back into the street racing world in yet another confusing way. Thats right, its the return of eternal night as you take control of other "crews" territory. However this is not accomplished without a pall. Now, you and your "team" role together. This is both good and bad because these guys offer a twist to how you race. Some will let you draft for an ultimate boost of speed, while others go out and find all the shortcuts. Depending on who you race with determines the way you race in a way. So now your car and your crew are all set. Finally we can get rolling. Out in the city, you can find all sorts of races to fill your needs. Everything from circuit racing to drag racing and the new Carbon canyon race. This Carbon canyon is a place to put your very life on the line in one of the most dangerous racing environments from the Need for Speed series. I personally thought it was a good idea but did not end up liking how the race works. Overall, this game feels slightly loose at times and too ridged at others. The controls are tempermental and leaves the player constantly adjusting. A few cars wher removed from the game which was sad because they were some nice ones too. However some new ones do make an appearance. The visuals are nice but nothing special. Music is geared, as always, to whatever EA thinks is popular and is ok at best. The collectors edition has a few minor tweaks. You get For exclusive cars and Ten pre tuned cars right out of the box and a bonus DVD and a shiny box. Other than that the game is really average getting only a 5.9 OUT OF 10

Awesome game!!! Lot's to do.
I really enjoy playing this game. The actual career could be longer, but it is a good storyline and good races. Favorite part would have to be the free roam. Roam around the city in one of your cars and enjoy the sights. That is until a cop catches you speeding and starts a chase. They pull out more advanced moves and tactics the longer they are in pursuit.That is a lot of fun all by itself. There are bonuses you can unlock and different ways to start playing the game. It is a lot of fun and certainly a needed addition for anyone who has played a need for speed game.I really enjoy playing this game.
