Family Movie, Perfect for Christmas
I ABSOLUTELY love this movie! It is one of my all time favorites!! This movie takes place during the 1800s, when people were moving out west to become homesteaders. During the journey across the American plains, the woman (Martha) and her husband (Jedidiah) loose their only two daughters to Cholera. After building their new home, the local minister stops by to see if they would be willing to open up their home and HEARTS to an orphaned boy (Danny). The boy is everything their girls were not: loud, messy, can't sit still, etc. Martha's heart is still in the season of winter and she just can't open up to the boy. Everything this poor orphan does annoys her and, further, she feels like she would be betraying her daughters, if she loved another child. Jedidiah, however, loves him from the ... This movie makes you laugh and it makes you cry. The depth of feelings that Martha goes through or her 'Seasons of the Heart' can be empathized with by all mothers. How she comes to terms with her feelings one snowy Christmas Eve offers the unexpected welcoming of a second chance at life, love, and happiness. A great family movie or one to watch when you want to really be moved to thinking about what is really important in your life. * Has a religious reference in it but nothing that anyone should find offensive or preachy.

Excellent family movie. It has an engaging and fun story line without all the violence, sex and such hollywood insists in putting in movies.

This movie makes you think of children all over the world who have lost a parent of two. It makes you think through the child's mindset and also at what that child's parent had or didn't have in mind in order to have a tenderness toward the child. It presents a case to many adults about what goes through a child's mind and how a child views life and what impacts them and their world, so that the adult may respond to the "challenges" of raising children as Jesus would.This movie makes you think of children all over the world who have lost a parent of two. I love the movie but discovered it was too sad for an 8yr old girl and a 10 yr old girl. For that, I felt bad. Too mature for them.
