Overall a good set of horror.
For someone looking for effective horror at a good price this isn't a bad choice. Most of the movies are from the '70's so they are atmospheric rather than fast paced body count movies. I will however give a rundown of the body counts for anyone who's interested. The highest body count is in 1988's MEMORIAL VALLEY MASSACRE, which boasts an impressive 14. This is also the most straight foward, least atmospheric of the 9. The next highest, though confusing, is SILENT NIGHT, BLOODY NIGHT which stars horror legend and sorely missed John Carradine. It may be either 13 or 15, but due to some confusion I count it as the former. Both DON'T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT and HORROR RISES FROM THE TOMB boast 10, though most of BASEMENT's bodies are at the end so don't expect a pacing like FRIDAY THE 13th, ... KILL BABY KILL and THE DEMON both have 8, but 2 of BABY's are off camera. PIECES has 7, THE HATCHET MURDERS has 5, and the most dissapointing NIGHT OF BLOODY HORROR has 3. I don't count murders only reported on the radio, TV, in newspapers or mentioned by the police in their investigations. I DO count murders where you see the persons before they are murdered and KNOW they get murdered. They may only disappear, but they still count. Now to the quality of each movie. I enjoyed MVM, DEMON, and HATCHET the best. I like both 80's body count movies and creepy Italian movies, and these fit the bill. While MVM isn't scary by any means it satisfies the cheese and blood lusts we 80's horror fans crave. The deaths aren't too graphic or splattery but they suffice. DEMON and HATCHET are both atmospheric and well paced Italian suspensers with true creepiness, and as all good Italian Horror they are generous with the red stuff. In a similar vein is TOMB which boasts blood, vampiric demons, and zombies to good effect. I especially like how the male demon may only be hurt by one special object while his bride may only be hurt by another. The filmmakers were smart in how they used this as you see in a latter scene. Next best is PIECES, which is a typical splatterfest without the high body count. It would be more satisfying if it didn't limit itself with its own premise, a maniac trying to frankenstein a replica of his dead mother. You know from the beginning how many victims he'll need to complete the work. Also, SPOILER ALERT, he chooses a dancer for her ARMS! Why not her LEGS?! Though it DOES satisfy in gore and its PROM NIGHT like scenes where he puts an erotic puzzle together for each piece he's going after next, similar to crossing out the faces of each victim in a photogragh. Next are both BABY and NIGHT, BABY being the oldest made in 1966. Because it's Italian it has some decent blood but is more typical of older movies. If it wasn't graphic in some of its deaths I would care for it less. Two victims simply disapear(refer to earlier note)and not enough creepy atmosphere is created to lump it in with other Italian movies. If it had been made in the 70's I think it would have been better. Perhaps a remake is in order. Please let me know if there already has been one. Night is also atmospheric, perhaps too much. It gets a little muddled in its flashbacks and tells us things in exposition it would be better to show us. Also its lighting is ineffective at times. If I can't see general shapes and outlines of things I spend time TRYING TO rather than being scared. BASEMENT is creepy but slow(see earlier note)and I wouldn't touch BLOODY.

B movies for a good laugh but not this time
The quality of the movies were outstanding, but the movies were VERY b flick. I usually like that type of movie, but these were pretty close to home-made, do not rate even high school drama class. I would not purchase this movie pack again.
