So long as you know what you're getting out of this, it's a pretty solid Wii title. It's by no means any sort of a cardio or workout replacement, but it's a nice direction towards a Wii title that may one day get closer to that goal. If you take a glance around at other reviews, you'll find that one complaint is the resistance band. It's not a lie -- this thing is an absolute joke. You'll do yourself a great favor if you go and hunt down a set of real resistance bands. Other than that, most activities are simplistic, but get the job done. The breakdown for upper body/lower body/cardio activities is nicely done. I wasn't the greatest fan of the leg strap, but it works. The integration of the Wii Balance Board is a nice plus, but it's pretty ... So long as you know what you're getting out of this, it's a pretty solid Wii title. You can complete activities with a partner, and this part is fairly well done. It would have been nice to see better depth in the "sports" activities, but for a stand-alone title that might have been too much to ask. Tennis, basketball, and baseball are in many ways executed in an even less enticing fashion than Wii Sports -- characterized by repetitive actions that minimally make things slightly more interesting. For those that really want to work out, hitting up the gym or going and doing real cardio exercise (or investing in ... say, an erg) would be far more useful. For a "game" however, this is probably about the best you're going to get in the short term.

Really decent workout
I am very much enjoying my Wii Active so far. I am on my 8th day and boy oh boy am I still sore. Unlike Wii Sports you don't play the games on Wii Actiove you train to play the games. It is far more aggressive than Wii Sports you choose either a male or female trainer to talk you through and earn trophies along the way. You can make up your own workouts that don't count on the 30 day challange and my Wii clock was set wrong so I worked out on the second day but it was credited to the wrong day and i didn't have the energy to do it again. Instead I reset the clock and took the day of rest which is OK. I would have liked to have just volleyball or just dance to choose from but you have to build the workout and lable it so. like it so far
I was looking for something for the Wii that would put together workouts for me. I found that I would get on the Wii fit and get bored and get off within 15 minutes. I do still like Wii Fit, but needed something else to alternate with it. I have started the 30 day challenge on EA sports and so far it is giving me a good workout. There are a few things I don't like about it, but I was forwarned in reviews so they weren't really surprises. I do not like that it doesn't track your weight. The resistance band really does stink! I went and got a medium resistance tube for $6 to replace it and it works MUCH better. I also think the game is slow to respond to the controls, but I believe this game is meant to be used with the new Wii controller add-ons that make the ... Also, it is nice that you can choose easy, medium, or hard for workout intensity. I do not know if it is really that much better than other workout games out there. I honestly feel that it probably isn't worth the $60 price tag (if you already have plenty of workout programs to use I would just wait until the price drops- you know it will.) BUT, if you like it and stick to it then it is worth every penny! I cannot afford a gym or real personal trainer right now so this is a good option for me personally.

Pretty great, with minor drawbacks
I bought this so I could work out, and I've been really happy with it. There are only two problems. First, sometimes the game doesn't register that you've completed a rep and it won't continue. It's kind of annoying but there's an option to skip the exercise and move on. I just do the reps on my own and move on. Also, the resistance band you get is a complete waste. Mine broke the 2nd day. I replaced it with a $10 resistance band from the store, so it's not that big of a deal. That's the bad news. Here's the good news. I like that the trainer is constantly giving you positive feedback. You could think of it as cheesy, but I find it motivating. You can customize your work out intensity in to 3 levels, so you can find the right fit. ... Must have Heavier Bands & Wireless Nunchuck
The Pro's: The concept is very good. There's a wide variety of activities to keep you interested. Every day of the 30 day Challenge is different which is good. Most other workouts are exactly the same, over and over and over, But, EA Active does a nice job of mixing it up. That makes it more fun. The Con's: The Red Band that comes with the Game is completely useless. It doesn't even offer a half a pound of resistance. Also you can't do many of the moves with the wire that connects the nunchuck to the controller. It's just too short and it's constantly in the way. So, the first thing you need to do if you are considering this game is to buy a wireless nunchuck and get some stronger bands. A variety of different strength bands will work best, ...
