Product Information

Players take the role of Maurice Sendak's mischievous Max in Where the Wild Thing's Are, a 3D platform adventure for PlayStation 3. Based on the 2009 Spike Jones film adaptation of the classic children's book, the game takes place on the Island of the Wild Things, a land discovered in Max's imagination when he is sent to his room as punishment for rebellious behavior one night. The story of the game's main adventure mode follows the plot of the film, with running, jumping, and gliding through 3D terrain, and combat against unruly beasts using Max's scepter. Collectable items found along the way can be used to unlock bonus content. As Max soon learns to rule the many Wild Things that inhabit the island, he begins to see a larger threat, and he embarks on a perilous journey to save his new friends and himself. His path leads through moonlit mountains and shadowy jungles, in the style of the film's live-action re-creations of the distinct art in the Caldecott Medal-winning book. Throughout his travels, major obstacles may be overcome with the help of three of Max's most loyal Wild Thing companions, who can perform feats of great strength and agility. Aside from the main adventure, players can visit the Wild Thing village, which serves as a hub for a number of mini-games and character interactions based on the book and film.

    Great game but not for everyone

    The combat can become boring but the world is a sight to behold. The graphics and textures aren't what they should be for a PS3 game but they are still clear and beautiful. The game is actually quite dark and moody. Max and his friends find their world falling apart as the moon threatens to crash into their world. Globs of black goo are wrecking a once beautiful place. The music is emotive and appropriate. I found the soundtrack instilling a sense of urgency and at other times quite calming. As max, the player spends the duration of the game looking for collectibles and traversing through the monster's world in a linear but exciting fashion, similar to but not on par with Drake's Fortune. Even if you just love the art of Maurice Sendak I would recommend buying this game.

    where are they really????

    i though this game was rather fun to play.i did not play the whole thing,but just the beginning of it.it started out following the bull guy around.you picked up skulls he leaves behind.the graphics are good and seem to take you to this lush paradise.enjoyable from the part i played.i recommend it.

    A great game for beginners

    I was looking for an easy game to start my 2 1/2 year old on for the PS3. This is great. He caught on very quick. Plus this game was a little addictive for me too. I definately recommend "Where the wild things are" PS 3 game!

    Stunning scenery.

    This is a game that is going to leave you wanting more. Like one review said that battle scenes are a little repetitive, however it is a visual stunner and my son was sad when he finished it.
