Liam Neeson gives a bravura performance as the title character in KINSEY, which details the controversial and dramatic rise of sex researcher Alfred C. Kinsey. Raised in a sexually repressed household with a preacher father (John Lithgow) who believes the zipper is the devil's work, young Kinsey goes against his father's wishes and studies biology, eventually becoming a leading authority on the gall wasp. His skill at classification, organization, and research, combined with his own burgeoning sexuality following his marriage to Clara McMillen (Laura Linney), leads him to begin investigating the nature of human sexuality. Working at Indiana University, Kinsey finds that sex is something many Americans have been waiting a long time to talk about. Unfortunately, others consider his work to be disgusting and want it ended. Writer-director Bill Condon (GODS AND MONSTERS) alternates between short black-and-white scenes of Kinsey answering his own sex survey questions, with longer color scenes that flash back to the important moments of his life. Kinsey's boyhood through his formative years, and his obsessions with the gall wasp and human sexual behavior, are thoroughly documented. The publication of the seminal books SEXUAL BEHAVIOR IN THE HUMAN MALE (1948) and SEXUAL BEHAVIOR IN THE HUMAN FEMALE (1953) mark his primary achievements. Interestingly, it is the second book that causes the biggest panic, as a repressed society refuses to believe that women have the same needs and desires as men. Neeson and Linney make a wonderfully refreshing couple, freely sharing each other for all to see. Peter Sarsgaard, Chris O'Donnell, and Timothy Hutton lend fine supporting work as Kinsey's staff. KINSEY is an enlightening, engaging, yet frightening film, revealing how far the understanding of American sexuality has come--and how far it still has to go.

Gives You Some Jolts, But Overall a Well Done Film.
Liam Neeson really made this film work. His overbearing presence was very convincing. I don't really wish to get into the moral and ethical implications of where this film might take you, however, at the moment I will say it will definitely get you interested in the outcome of the life and times of Alfred Kinsey. Inspired to explore the emotionally charged subject of sex from a strictly scientific point of view, Alfred Kinsey (Liam Neeson) recruits a team of researchers, including Clyde Martin, Wardell Pomeroy and Paul Gebhard. Over time they refine an interviewing technique which helps others break through the shame, fear, and guilt about their sexual histories. The interviewing technique was paramount in allowing people the opportunity and speak freely about their previous sexual ... Liam Neeson really made this film work. When Kinsey publishes his Male study in 1948, the press compares the impact to that of the atomic bomb. Kinsey continued to pursue his study with women, however was more taboo to talk about, since many saw this as an attack on basic American values. The outrage and scorn that follows causes Kinsey's benefactors to abandon him, just as his health begins to fail. I'm going to give this film and average score 3/5 because it is enlighteninng and thought provoking to say the least. These types of films always seem to make me anxious just watching the different people and their reactions even though I know it's just a film. Kinsey - Starring Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, Peter Sarsgaard. Rated R Rating: 8 or 8.5/10 Definitely recommend, excellent acting and interesting storyline. Couldn't imagine any other actor besides Liam Neeson in this role. I first saw Peter Sarsgaard in the movie An Education and he was very compelling on screen even though his character didn't have much of the audience's sympathy by the finale. He's attractive but not in the traditional lean, muscled, tall movie star mold. His looks are more old fashioned. Liam Neeson is one of my girlhood crushes rofl. He was hot in Rob Roy xD He seems to age really well and his acting never disappoints. The movie follows his character Kinsey in his life goal of researching sex and making that information public to the mainstream. I found his wife, ... But then since it doesn't have that, it just made me check wikipedia lol.

Great Movie
After learning about Alfred C Kinsey in college, I became fascinated by his work. I ended up attending Indiana University for graduate school so that I could take courses at the same place Kinsey did and maybe be a part of the Kinsey institute. This movie is a great peak into the life that head lead and shows the kinds of things he had to deal with in order to perform research and educate the general population about sexual health.After learning about Alfred C Kinsey in college, I became fascinated by his work. Based on a psycologist named Kinsey, this movie goes deep into sex. Even if you do not like his research or have negitive feeling about what he has done, I would still see this movie. It makes you laugh/cry/think etc... I rented this movie thinking I wouldn't like it but I was wrong. (I don't particually care for certain areas of his research). Don't be fooled though, this is not your everyday feel good movie this is in fact about a psycologist that breaks the taboos to discover the truths about sex. Back in a time were it was thought that women didn't have org*sms (* = cencored). Some say his research brought us into the 21st centrey. THIS IS NOT FOR CHILDREN BY ANY MEANS! make sure the kids are gone and you and your hubby/boyfriend/girlfriend(s) get the popcorn and watch this! PLEASE ...
